I've had a similar situation happen to me on the cobra slip on but this was from scratch marks from stones or chips from the road. Those spots that have been scratched are rusting now

It is on the pipe. It appears to me to be just minor pitting from the welds and the heat at the flange and pipe joint. I am not concerned with mine if it is the same issue. There is no rusting on the heat shield. I noticed mine after two days and it has not spread or worsened.

Its on the powder coated covering. There is some rusting from rubbing on the footguard.but its not that. Its kinda like a boil spot(s) there are two right next to each other. I couldnt figure out how to resize the image on my iphone. It started out as a light spot, then developed a rough surface and now is turning a rust color. I havent heard of anyone else having this problem and even the sales rep sounded like he ddnt believe me. Ive emailed him images i should hear back tomorrow so ill update when i hear from him.

What they will say is " mail your pipe to us and we will look at it and make a determination"
Had this happen to my Cobra Speedster Longs on my VTX......................they did replace them under warranty, but took forever!

OK, different from what I was describing. Good luck, Cobra has a decent rep, I'm sure they will do you right.

I haven't found any one mine but the best thing I have found to help is Mother chrome wheel and mag polish and cleaner. I used to have a nice set of chrome rims on one of my old trucks and it cleaned the rust right off and all I had to do was use it once every other month and I had no more rust issues

My only questions are:

Do you leave your bike outside to the elements?

Where do you live, lots of rain (hot / cold weather constantly?)

Completely BS if after 5 months this has happened. I see no reason to think scratches caused those spots.

I live in fl. Its hot and wet alot. When i lived in north fl when this started i kept it in the garage. but now im in orlando and i keep it covered but it got worse. I could understand if id had them for 11 months and they were giving me a tough time about the warranty but 5 months is ridiculous. The warranty specifically states the discoloration is covered for one year from purchase date

I would say it is caused from the salt in the air from the ocean. I have a friend that lived in Malibu this past year, but moved back in IL this past May. He bought a new Raider and had only had it 3 months and shipped it to our house when he returned. His new raider had so much rust on the pipes and many other spots.

mine have spots in the same place, but no rust yet. I've had mine on since March 2011. I'll have to look at mine closer. I thought there were just some stubborn spots on it.
