Hello all

I am brand new to these forums. I am in the market for a new cruiser. I was going to pick up a harley prior to coming to my senses. Here is my issue, stryker or raider? I am 5' 10" 265, and I was a bit concerned about the lack of power in the Stryker. I like the style of the Stryker . Any feedback on this matter would help. Do you all think I will miss or need the power of the raider?

well everyone's perception of power *or a lack thereof* is going to differ. Does the Raider have more power...well sure it does but that certainly doesn't mean that the Stryker suffers from a lack of power. A bone stock 80ci Stryker will outrun the 96ci Harley's all day long. Not to mention how the Stryker really comes to life with pipes, air intake, and a programmer. There's some pretty big fellas on this forum and from what I've gathered they're happy with the power and performance of the Stryker. I'm coming from the sport-bike world *as are MANY of the Stryker owners* and I'm 100% satisfied with the performance of my Stryker.

Thanks for the fast replies. My last bike was a Busa about 5 years ago so this will be my first cruiser. When i was looking at the Harleys i knew they were going to be a bit slow, i just did not want to be any slower than i DYNA model Harley. I plan on doing some mods right away with the money i will save. Just have to find a bike shop in MD that can do it.

I agree. I'm 6'4" 300lbs, and I'm perfectly satisfied with the power. My dad has an electra-glide that he had completely built and bored over for pulling a trailer on long trips, and the stryker is still faster.

I rode a 2011 Dyna Fat Boy with the 96 CI engine and it definatlely does not have the power or styling of my Stryker.

6'. 250lbs and plenty happy with it. I guess question would be are you wanting a cruiser to cruise or drag race? It has no problem cruising along at interstate speeds or maybe more :)

No problem man. You really can't go wrong with the Raider or the Stryker...they're both awesome bikes.

I am looking to cruise , but I also don't want to struggle going up hills, or getting out the way of other traffic. Judging by the feedback I have received I think the Stryker is going to be the way to go. I am already looking at aftermarket pipes and intake. Thanks again everyone for your input, you have helped me out a lot.

The Stryker isn't but about a 1/2 sec slower in the 1/4 mile than the Raider. Raider doing 12.68 sec and the Stryker !3.25 And close to neck and neck 0-60 And if you do a few engine mods it would probably match a stock Raider. IMO The Stryker looks more muscular with it's tight looks and more raked out front end. But you can't go wrong with either bike they are both awesome machines.

I am average size 5"10 190, but I have not done any mods on my bike and have had it since June, I bought the stryker cause I loved the way it looked and ran right off the floor, I have been on rides with a huge varity of bikes and I can say this bike can hang with the best of them. (stock)with mods, that much better.

I'll chime in even though this is my first street bike. I'm 5'11" and 175lbs and if I was a much bigger guy, I would probably opt for a bigger bike like the raider.

My buddy rode mine home from the shipping dock(only because I didn't have my motorcycle license yet), and he looked kinda like a Gorilla riding a bicycle on my Stryker. He's a big dude though....6'4" about 280. We both looked at a Raider that was on consignment at a local dealership. That bike fit him. Tried talking him into buying it, but his wife said no. @%!#%#

I'm 5'6", 300lbs. Stryker has plenty of power for my fat a$$. I was a little worried when I bought the bike, wondering if the 1300 would be enough for me. It's plenty and I love every second I ride. This is my first bike so nothing to compare to other that the Rocker C I rented for a couple days (only Harley I liked). The Stryker is a much better and faster bike.

The Stryker it is then. Thanks everyone for your help. I put a down payment on it to hold and should have it within a week or so. Now i need to search the forums and decide what my first mods will be.
