Hey i had my wife sit on my bike yesterday so i could check the coolant level. It was dead even with the low line and i thought wow i need to add some coolant so that is in-between the high and low line. Well i had an oil change scheduled for that afternoon and decided to wait and let them do it. Well the mechanic at the shop said it should be right on the low line and i did not need to add any because once the bike is warm and starts cycling the coolant that it expands do to the heat and if you add any it will overflow. IS THIS TRUE OR NOT? I checked it when i got home and the bike was warm and it was still on the low line. Please help because if it needs more i will add some. And does anyone know where to add it at? i looked and could not find a place to pour it in. Thanks a lot

Page 7-14 in our owner’s manual: “The coolant level must be checked on a cold engine since the level varies with the engine tempeerature.” … “The coolant should be between the minimum and maximum level marks.”

SFCMcGan is correct, just pull off those side panels and you have access to coolant fill opening. I just added some to my bike the other day.
11.. you must have been referring to something else..?
Yeah- There is a fill neck under Gas tank, You can see it in J4Patrice's pic with her bike stripped on right side near fork neck. I know because I have had my tank off at least 3 times, but forgot that the secondary tank and fill neck was on right side behind cover.

Gee... thanks for reminding me how stripped down my bike is. lol Its ok, I know I just need to be patient. Before I know it I will have a different look. In about 4-5 weeks.

But I am going to check my coolant level while its stripped down. Probably will be much easier.

ok so those panels after you take the allen head bolts out do you just pop those little tabs and it comes off? Do the little tabs just go back after popping them off? I didn't want to just pull them apart and not be able to put them back on?

Flush system with air

I just had a mechanic flush and change the coolant. Taking off the tank is one this, but the directions also say to take apart the muffler to get at the reservoir tank. He did that before, but this time he said that he used air to force the old coolant out of the overflow on the reservoir and that did the trick. Hope this helps someone. I will try and due this myself next time. The mechanic was nice enough to walk me through taking off the tank. Make sure to switch off the flow that is tucked (hidden) on the underside of the tank before taking off the tank...and put a rag under that part when you pry off the tank.

Coolant filler neck is on the right side of the bike behind the panel... look at page 3-18 in the manual.

Sure am glad I looked at page two-really didn't want to remove the tank yet. Don't see any leaks but did the all the checks as I have a nice 6 hour round trip ride coming up this weekend and it's at the low level so need to top off.
