I asked about backrests a while back, and the discussion got me looking at Corbin seats. I looked at the Mustangs too, but I'm leaning toward Corbin right now.

I had some questions for those that have them already.

For the Gunfighter seat, how functional is the pillion seat? Is it better/worse than the stock pillion? Can't have anything worse than the stock and expect the wifey to ride.

My other question was about the ungodly number of options these guys have for colors/textures. Anybody chose anything besides regular black leather and asphalt vinyl?

The gunfighter I dont think would be as good as the stock seat for a passanger. Ive never used it in a 2 up setting though So I cant say. Id have my GF sit on it but I dont have my bike right now. But I just dont see it being comfortable on the long haul.

While I was at Corbin helping fit the seat I got alot of time to walk through there whole shop and look at everything they had. The black leather with asphalt vinyl trim is the best option (no welting it causes the seams to pull after) Im not saying its the best material because all there materials look great and are high quality. I just felt that was the best looking.

The reason I'm torn here is because she doesn't ride with me very often. She's got her own bike. But when we go on longer trips, she likes riding with me and I don't want to discourage that.

But the Gunfighter seat looks so much better. Or maybe it wouldn't - 95% of the time I'm using my bike as a commuter, with bags and the sissy bar and luggage rack. So maybe the touring seat wouldn't look out of place. Sure would be nice to be able to take all the quick disconnect crap off and have a cool looking bike from time to time, though.

On that note Mentat keep in mind how quick and easy it is to change out the seat. One seat for solo and one seat for two up is the way to go.

The seats are very easy to change, The corbin seats even get rid of the middle seat bracket. I have both Corbins so one for me and one when shes with me. Both are great seats. and the touring one doesn't look bad at all, I just take off the back rest when shes not on.

Just got my new Corbin Touring seat this week and wanted to put up a post. Overall I love the look and definitely the feel of the new seat. It does raise you up and forward a bit but not too much that it's an issue. Something I learned on this one - the touring seat does not work with the Yamaha OEM fixed short backrest. :( Kinda sucks as I really liked the look of the OEM backrest but there is just no way to make it work with the extra padding and width that Corbin puts into their seats. Looking back I now see the "disclaimer" that the seat will work with the OEM quick release system which I of course did not have. Anyway, now I'm a bit torn as to what my next step should be. Girlfriend loves to ride with me and definitely enjoys having a backrest. Debating selling my existing OEM fixed for an OEM quick release to return to the look that I still like or just ordering the backs from Corbin that fit into the seat.....either way I guess I need to work more overtime ;D

Looks Really Good SSgt. I have a similiar width passenger seat off of a Stratoliner and have the tall quick release backrest and there is just enough room.

Awesome! Thanks for the confirmation 11Stryker. Really like the Yamaha passenger seats so I think I'll be talking to the bike shop this week. Gonna see if they'll buy me out of the old one / allow a trade in on the new quick release I want. If that fails then I'll check eBay and also try and sell my old one.

You guys just answered my next question. In reading, I'm assuming the short quick release will still be too narrow for the new seat? Planning on getting a replacement ASAP. Thanks....
