I ride a lot. I'm up to 17k miles on this bike, and almost that much between my other two in the last year. Lately I've been having trouble with my shoulders hurting. A lot. And, to a lesser extent, my back. Anyhow, I bought the Corbin touring seat with a backrest to see if it helps. Initial reactions:

First impression:

After an hour:

After two hours:

Conclusion: my ass hurts. I've heard these things take a while to break in. I hope it gets better, because the backrest is sweet bliss and the seating position is much more natural.

If you have back problem, maybe a chopper style bike is not the best for you. I had few motorcycles in my life and I think that this position is very rough on the back.

If it get serious and want to keep riding, you should consider a sport touring motorcycle. Your position is more straight and you legs are more under you, ending in a more natural position.

Thanks for the pic. LOL How does it compare to the stock seat. I have been considering buying the corbin touring seat myself. My ass starts to go numb after about 200 miles on the stock seat. But my wife needs more room and I'd like to ride farther more comfortably. How does this corbin seat compare? Its not worse than the factory seat is it?

Sometimes it doesn't matter which seat you buy or how much patting is on it. Some asses are just not made to sit on these type of seats. I can put a bed pillow on my seat and my ass will hurt after a hour or so. I've even tried the large bubble wrap, just to see and it didn't help. :'(

I actually never had a problem with the stock seat. I've ridden for hundreds of miles without the slightest bit of sore ass going on, but my posture was bad on it. The bike isn't the cause of my shoulder or back problems, but it was definitely aggravating the problems.

With the Corbin seat and backrest, I'm actually sitting with good posture and it's a little higher and a little forward of the stock, so the bars are an easier reach. Which is exactly what I needed. The padding, however, appears to blow.

I've heard from several people that Corbin seats are hard to start with, but after 1-2k miles they fit your posterior like a glove and you can't beat 'em. I even ran into the MSF instructor whos class I took while I was at the dealer picking up the seat. Even he said I'd be cursing it for 1000 miles or so. That'll take me a week or two to try.

Yes some of us may need fat injections in our back side to feel comfortable. ;D

I was going to update this soon anyway, now that it's popped up to remind me I'll do it now.

I've got like 6k on the seat now, and it has broken in and is very comfortable. It did take way longer than advertised, but it's good now.

When I had 3-4k on it, I tried to send it back to Corbin and get my money back (through the yammy dealership I bought it from) and they were less than helpful. I was basically told unless it is defective, I was SOL. And if it IS defective, I had to ship it back and let them fix it and I probably still would not get my money back.

Anyway, like I said it worked itself out and is a nice ride now. But I would still like to get a solo seat for it, so I may try to sell the Corbin seat with ovalback back rest here or on Ebay to the tune of $500 or so.
