Ok guys it looks like I might be doing some mods to my stryker. So I need some real/honest input from personal experiences preferably.
Ok so the exhaust is about $500-600 bucks, programmer another $300-400, and the intake another $250-300. So it's about a little over a grand. My question is: am I gonna be able to see, and feel a HUGE difference in power/performance with all this installed, or not really? I thought if I'm gonna spend over a thousand on a bike on performance parts, then I should really see a DRAMATIC performance improvement. What you guys say?? So at the end I wouldn't like to spend $1000 and get the performance of a cold air intake on a car. If I'm spending $1k on a bike I should see equivalent power as if a supercharger/turbo on a car.

No, From personal experience you will not feel the same difference as putting a turbo on a car. Not even close.
You Will gain performance with each addition but nobody see's that kind of gain with a V twin without going to a supercharger, turbo or NOS.

In all, I think I saw here some dyno sheets claiming an extra 8 to 12 HP.

I wanted the sound of the pipes so I added them...
I hated the look of that ugly plastic air filter so I added the cobra Power-flo.
Because I added those I added the Tuner so I didn't burn down my motor.

What I gained was a SWEET sounding, Great looking, Hot running bike that I'm very proud of that has enough roll-on power to walk away from my buddy's Raider and most Harleys that decide they are too good to share the road with me!:thumb:

Also I need to add...

$1500 was just the start for those mods.
Then came the 240 tire, the lowering kit, the mirrors, the brake switch delete, the integrated tail light change-out, the license plate bracket, the forward controls, Etc....

Of leave it stock and ride it.:thumb:
It's cheaper that way.

Modding is a hobby and a way of life but it's also very expensive.

Yeah I'm new to the biker world, but one thing one of my very good buddies told me before getting my ride was that I had to be conscious that biking can get veeery expensive, and addicting as well. The addicting part I got it, but the expensive part is yet to be experienced. Well I'm gonna have to think this thoroughly before having some Benjis fly off my wallet. I want to be sure that this bikes sound good, I'm desperate to hear one modded, but unfortunately there's hardly any strykers around my area, maybe county as well:)

I think it also depends on what kind of riding you want to do. Stock the bike performs very well. Our budget is such that we either mod or ride, so we tend to stick with cosmetic, inexpensive mods, mods that increase comfort for LONG rides, and mods that increase our capabilities to carry traveling gear.
So if you want to ride it like a bat out of ****, and 'race' everywhere, and everything on the road lol spend the money ;)
If you have to watch your pennies so you can afford tires etc and you want to get a lot of saddle time, save your money and just gas her and go!

It won't be like going from a corvette ls6 to a zr1. It's more like putting a cold air intake and after market exhaust on your car. You will have a little bit more power though out the rpm rang but nothing seriously crazy. I have cobra powrflow intake and auto tuner and V&H twin slash. It sounds amazing and I didn't really like having something that looked like a cup on the side of my bike. Some like the stoke look some don't. Do what looks and works best with your budget. A piece here a piece there. Make it your own. Just my .02

I’ve done these mods, Stage 1 upgrade on the dyno, 30 tooth front pulley wheel, steel braded brake lines, etc.. here is my recommendation; if you have the funds to do it all then great, do it. But if your funds are limited then my experience says that the first mod I would do to get more power is change your front pulley wheel to 30 tooth, only $200 + $40 install. And I don’t want to start a big debate over whether or not it actually gives more power.. my experience is that this will give your bike instant zip/response. Best bang for the buck IMO

You will never get the same effect from this motor like on a car. **** for $400 I chipped my 98 VW Passat and gained 40-45 ponies(150 stock so that was noticeable).

+1 on 30 tooth pulley. Technically no it doesn't change either HP or Torque numbers but it does change the gearing and you feel like you have more torque and the chugging between gears in the subdivision etc. is gone because you can run a higher gear at lower speeds.

As for all the other mods they generally are either functional or aesthetic and sometimes a little of both. Forward extensions are functional if you are on the taller side, chrome belt guard is aesthetic and things like an air cleaner or pegs could be considered both.

I'm in season #2 and changing things here and there. If money is tight I'd certainly go for the functional ones first and you may not really know those until you have some decent miles under your belt. For me the stock seat is fine but for others that would need to be replaced. If it's just the long hauls that cause the issue you could look into an airhawk.

To bad you don't have people closer to you. Seeing, sitting on and riding various mods is a godsend if you are on the fence.
And I'm sure you already know but this forum is a wealth of information. It can get expensive but other mods like the rear brake pressure switch is in the $40 range for everything if you have tools and can wrench yourself.

If you're patient, you can find some good deals on the forum classifieds too. I got my pipes and intake from a member for half of what I would have paid new. Soon a lot of shops will be running some great discounts for xmas, good time to save a buck on those mods and bring your cost down....so you can spend the leftover $ on even more mods!

You can do stuff big or go small and work your way up. Exhaust wise, you can drill the baffles for free, look at something like the slip on for a couple hundred bucks, or go all out and replace it front to back. Same with the intake, there is a mod on here you can do for free, aftermarket ones vary greatly in price. Tuners are the same way, range from a couple hundred up to five-six hundred. Do what you can afford and what you like the looks/sound of. Like someone said, the biggest reason is to make it your own.

I will answer most of your questions by saying one thing. Anyone that has done exhaust, air, autotuner, and 30 tooth sprocket would probably do it all again now that they know what a difference it makes. The Stryker opens up very quick anyway but the main difference I see is a **** of a pull through the whole power band now. You can get the same results by completely gutting out the exhaust, modding the stock airbox and just buying a tuner and sprocket ($450 total). Like most will say, mods are a balance between style and performance. I like the fact that people walk up to my bike very often and say "Thats a sweet looking bike dude but does it run?" 95% of them are embarrassed soon after that, lol....

I Cut The Baffles Out Completely On Mine, Left The Cat, Sounds Mean! Cost, A 2$ Cut OfF Wheel For Removing The Welds On The Tips, And Cutting All Around The End To Pull The Baffles Completely Out. Cheap, And Effective, Even A Noticeable Power Gain. My Custom Intake HaS Twin K&n Filters Which Showed A Power Gain AS Well. Not Sure Why My Phone Is Capitalizing Every Word.. Lol.

If you already like the look/performance of the stock bike:

1) drill your stock exhaust for a better sound
2) do the DYI air intake
3) Get a fuel controller... $250 EJK or Bully (to ease the jerking)

Done. Everything else is frosting. Just enjoy the ride.

Great options, and opinions amigos. Considering winter is just around the corner, I might have bit more time to try some of these cheap mods mentioned above. For sure tho, the only thing I'll ask wifey for Christmas will be the black cobra swepts!!!!
