I love the Stryker bars but coming from riding sports bikes I feel I'm leaning too far back. I searched and searched to find nothing I like as far as handle bars are concerned. So I figured why not build my own to be in the position I want. what do you think? also first time posting so hi to all!!!

Re: custom bars

I have to admit I originally wanted them to just be a single bend without making it a "m" style but didn't really notice a change in my seated position. I may have went to drastic on that second cut but I love the way I'm positioned on the bike now and less strain on the back. Beside raw materials at $36 bucks and 4 hours of stress relief (slow at work) can't beat that! first time on custom bars too!

Re: custom bars

Did you tig them? It looks like you just cut and butt welded them? I would like to know how much you ride and how well they hold up? Also what type of tubing did you use and how thick? Made some of my own, and just curiuos on how yours were done.

Re: custom bars

yeah you were the reason why i chose to build my own bars. I got it from onlinemetals.com here is what i ordered to build them.
2 pieces @ $10.09/pieceMild Steel A513 TYPE 5DOM Tube1" x 0.12" x 0.76"Cut to: 24"
I mig welded the joint after butting them up. angle ground the butted ends to insure a solid bond. I have a high quality lincoln mig welder on 240w. I don't have a tig welder but that would have been the preferred way to go. I just built the bars yesterday and rode about 200 miles after building them. they feel sturdy. the stock bars seem to be about half the thickness of the ones i just built. If i can get some tubing adaptors for my pipe bender (muffler shop) i may be able to make the bars i want but at 800 for the 1" set questioning the worth?

Re: custom bars

Ape hangers will look nicer . Although I commend the ingenuity and creativity here. I love my orig Stryker bars however love to see some apes on Stryker. I think the sitting into the bike riding position on Stryker will compliment apes
