I have the OEM midnight engine guards & the low & mean chin scoop. To have these two mods I had to cut the bar going across the radiator on the engine guards. I know that I am not the only one to have done this. A question has been asked about the strength. Well today I was cutoff by a car and forced to lay the bike down. I will say that I was not going very fast because I was coming to and intersection and needed to turn, the guard did its job. It's all scratched and gauged but it is not bend. Between the guard my OEM saddle bags and leg the motor and pipes sustained no damage. My peg was scraped up pretty good and my Wolo big bad max was destroyed as was my brake handle mirror and boulevard windshield. As for me some minor cuts bumps & bruises and a couple fractured ribs.

Glad to hear your Ok for the most part and the bike's damage was limited. I hate hearing these stories and they get more frequent as the weather warms up but. Your story does help me feel a little better spending the extra money on my engine guard. Most importantly you were not seriously injured. Take care of those ribs.

Sounds like it could have been much worse, so glad that your alive and relatively well to report to us! Hope you have a speedy recovery and may Karma get that S.O.B. that made you lay your bike down!

Sorry to hear about your incident but glad you are around to tell about it. Good to know the guards did their job. Get better. And try not to sneeze, it's a bear with fractured ribs, been there done that!

Glad you're okay! Due to the way the engine guard mounts, it doesn't surprise me that cutting the center section didn't affect the durability.
