Guys I’m having a hard time choosing which oil I want to switch to now that I’ve got 4k on the odometer. I’ve been running Yamalube up to this point. I’ve read plenty and am just curious to see what yall are running. Honestly I’d like to go with something that can be had at Wal-Mart or a common auto supply store. If I’m in a pinch I want to have a readily available supply no matter where I’m at. I've been going back and forth with the idea of synthetic or regular. For synthetics I'm eyeballing the Mobil 1 V-Twin 20w-50 as well as the Mobil 1 Racing 4T 10w-40. From what I can tell the Mobil 1 V-twin is more designed for air-cooled engines with an external primary drive…plus it’s not JASO certified and I’m not sure it’s ok to run with a wet clutch. For a non-synthetic I've been thinking about Valvoline's 4 Stroke Motorcycle 20w-50. Opinions? Concerns? Thoughts?

When I first got mine I was gonna do the switch, but the more I thought about it I realized I have never kept a bike more than 15,000 miles. I guess what I am saying is I really don't see an advantage (maybe fuel eco) to synthetic oil over conventional ,in a motor that most riders will never take to 50,000 miles. In my truck its a different story but for me the added cost just isnt worth it. (just my 2 cents) 8)

I'm running yamalube. If i got in a pinch I would top off with any motorcycle oil then just change it when I got home. Reason why I run yamalube is I dont feel like arguing with a dealer when the engine has an issue or the clutch messes up. I will just go in hand them the key and tell them I run what you guys recommended and its (choice word) up. They really cant question it then.

I was going to go with Mobil1 but decided against it for now. No sense in changing oil at 600 miles and storing for winter, then change oil in spring again. Running Valvoline 10W30 from WallyWorld. Sounds and runs the same as when it had Yamalube in it.

I to am sticking with Yamalube. I have run synthetic in my race bikes but see no reason to switch over in the Stryker. Just be careful with some of the synthetics that have a moly additive. Not great for clutch plates. Won't really destroy them but your clutch will start to slip.

I Run the yamalube , also never had the 'break-in' service done. My dealer said thats fine just keep receits for oil and filter changes and they will have no problem honoring any warranty related issues.

I think this may be the route i take as well. The local dealer wants almost $9/qt for regular Yamalube...ridiculous.

Well after much thought I decided to go the non-synthetic route. I picked up some Valvoline 4-Stroke Motorcycle Oil in 10W-40 for $4.99/qt. I just couldn’t justify spending $10+/qt. for synthetic when I know that good quality modern conventional oil will get the job done. I also picked up the 3.25" Wal-Mart SuperTech ST7317 oil filter for $2.80. Our bikes call for 3.59 quarts with a filter change but she darn near took 4 due to the larger oil filter.

I don't know call me crazy, but I always stick with factory filter or mobli 1 filter. Like I said before syn oil in a bike seems a little overkill but I always sweat that the cheapy filters just are not as good.

Mobil 1 and supertech filters are both made by champion just relabeled. This topic has been beat to death on another forum I'm on. Just trying to save ya a couple of bucks ;D
