Hey All,

Stumbled across this forum as I was looking for Raider forums. I'm planning to buy one or the other if a good deal comes along. Being only 5'7" and 185 lbs., I'm leaning toward the Stryker. I'm hoping to get a lot of information from this site before making a final decision. Hopefully in time I'll be able to contribute a lot more. Take care everyone. Happy holidays!

Just start reading....you will find an answer to just about any question you have regarding the Stryker. And there are some people on this forum that have Raiders as well. Speaking for my wife and I we love the Strykers. My wife is shorter and lighter than you, and I'm taller and heavier so I think you would be very comfortable on the Stryker. I can't say anything about the ride of the Raider since I never rode one...so I'll just leave that comment open to those that have.

Thanks for the greetings everyone. I've read through a lot of pages regarding the Raider vs Stryker arguments, and realize that they're both very good bikes. I'll try and ride both and see what I like. My background has been in sports bikes, so I'm accustomed to a liquid-cooled engine which is why I find the Stryker fits my tastes too. I'm definitely into modding and looking for something to work on again. It's one of the big reasons I want to get another bike. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's rides too. Take care everyone.

I love my Stryker but I'm a little taller 5'11" and 32 inseam. Regardless of what bike you end up choosing(even the dreaded HD...) sit on them and if at all possible go for a test ride. Only so much can be gleaned from forums and professional reviews. In the end the best bike for you might need mods(bars, forward controls etc.) but knowing that up front would be a huge benefit.

There are a lot of bikes out there. Try as many as you can. Like I said, no regrets on my Stryker. Down the road I think I'm more likely to add an additional bike verses replacing the Stryker. Maybe a full touring bike or an off/semi-off road bike. In the end, no one bike is going to fill all the needs ;D

The only reason why I went with the stryker was price and water cooled over the raider, 6'1 210 and the the 1304cc is just fine for riding 2up. Coming from a r6.

I liked the looks of the Stryker ...don't care for spedo on the tank, being water cooled and being able to run regular gas and price was deciding factors....oh yeah hi from mn enjoy the site lots of good info and great pictures of some really nice bikes

Hi. I have the Stryker, test rode the Raider, but liked the Stryker better. I am 5'8 and have a 34" inseam. This is the best bike that fit me just perfectly!!! But either bike you choose, you won't lose!!! They are both kick ass bikes!!! :).

perfect you came from a R6.....I am possible trading a R1 and was wondering if i would be happy with the stryker and two up also?..it dosent have to pull the front wheel up, but so you feel it offers decent power? and long distance cruising possibilities?
thanks

I'm 5' almost 6", 30" inseam. Sat on a raider the other day and it was too stretched out for me. Setting all the way back into the seat I had to lean way forward to reach the bars. Everything else was fine, reach the ground and controls. Would have to change the seat and bars right away. Came of the stand very easy and I love the hydraulic clutch. It's also a looker, however I probably couldn't use the power up on the mountain roads where I live.
The Stryker Fit me like a glove and it has plenty of power for 2 up riding pack for long rides. Today when I went for a ride by my self to test the new tires, I was so glad it was liquid cooled, because I raced up and down the mountain like a crazy man in 90+ degree temps. When I stopped to take pictures I turned the motor off, the cooling fan came on and when I went to start it it started right up like it wasn't warm at all. I did this several times in short jumps without getting out of 1st gear.
Couldn't do that with an air cooled bike. It's just an awesome bike.

First I have to say, I do love my bike...but I was at the dealer today and was looking at a leftover Raider for $12,000 (which I'm sure is negotiable). Just the thought of having the equivalent of another whole motorcycle under my seat, and they're not that bad looking....I guess I'm just never satisfied :(

Both are awesome bikes. Test rode both. Personally, I think the Stryker has better lines to it than the Raider. The Raider is definately more powerful, but you will never use all of that power. In fact you won't use all that the Stryker has. The only advise I can give is choose which you like most. You'll be happy either way. I'm 5"11, 200 lbs and the Stryker fits perfectly.

I bought the Stryker today, I'm 6'3 and 210lbs...not issues at all with the size or power. I never rode the Raider, but my dad has a Boulevard M109, which is a killer ride, but I found it a little too wide to be really comfortable and it's nowhere near as nimble for windy roads.

My old bike is an 83 Honda Magna v45 750....loved that bike, had it for 10 years. The Stryker was not too big and not too small....it fit just right!

:):):)
