Just sold my honda shadow 750. Loved the bike, just didnt like all the plastic chrome it had..plus wanting more power. Im now down to the stryker or raider. The only thing Im wondering about is the engine brace that comes down in front of the cylinder. Its not critical but once done with modding if it would be an eye sore. Could i go wrong with either one? I can get a stryker here for 9895 to 9995.00.....is that a decent deal?

The Stryker is a great bike so far. I just hit 1000 miles and no real complaints. It still has some of the chromed plastic, but you can replace if you want. The bike has a perfect sitting position for me, I'm about 5'8". If you are taller you may want to move the pegs forward a little. The bike has alot of power, and plenty of speed, 110-120 real quick for a cruiser, after that I don't look at the speedo much. I can only imagine that the Raider is the same bike on steroids, so if you have an extra five grand step up to the Raider. See if you can test drive it, or both? Don't get me wrong I was definately thinking of gettin the bigger bike, but after I test rode it I couldn't see spending the 5g's. If I do bump up it would be to the Strat deluxe.

Thanks for the insight....yep Im 5'7...so wont be moving the forward controls. :) They asked me to test drive but I had on shorts and t shirt..but hearing you say those things... I guess its not worth the five extra grand. Plus, it will be cheaper on insurance. :) Its just the new bike thing and the dealership wasnt for sure if it was gonna be a hit or a flop. It sounds like it might be a winner. Thanks again!

Straightjacket- You hit that Dead Nuts. We rode into dealer today and I told my son that the Stratoliner deluxe was someday going to be my next & last bike. The dealer had a Black beauty there that I couldnt keep my eyes off of. And yes 5 G's is alot for only 20 more HP and bragging rights!!!

ummmmmmmmmm i dont know where you guys are getting
an extra 5 g's from but I bought mine new for like 13000 out
the door price....and the raider is well worth the extra money!!
I have reached 135 and still had throttle but it isnt just about
top speed and bragging rights....Its ultimately, what YOU want
Do you want to buy another bike down the road??? I dont....I
love this bike.....Raider!! It has alot of great lines and is real chrome.
Rides beyond words....and I absolutely love the torque it has...121ft lbs
here.

Now for the Stryker, it is a very comfortable bike but I couldnt see myself
being, ultimately, happy with it. I dont like the plastic....big turn off for
me...I dont like the radiator, or water cooled, I dont like the power or torque
BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT, I will say I am spoiled. I like the look and
it has possibilities....it is totally up to you. This is everything I would be
asking myself as I look at both bikes....oh, I also dont like where the ignition
is....sorry. This is all nit picky to some but important to others....I bought
my bike for me and I know I will be happy for a loooooooooooooooooooong
time. I dont want to keep upgrading in a few years.

now tell me that aint worth it

The price at Yami dealer here for new 2011 raider is 15,290, I bought my stryker for 10,040. They gave me 750 discount off retail. Thats 5,250 difference although not taking into account discount they may have given me toward the raider.8)

Money wasn't really n issue buying this motorcycle. Walked out of HD dealer not liking one enough buying one. sat on a Raider as well.

Until I saw/sat on a Stryker. This was the one!!! Love on first site. And to each its own right or not? We all share the same passion and they all have two wheels!!!

Peace

There are still cheaper raiders out there and dealers are still wheelin and dealing.
I love the look of both bikes and feel that yamaha is definitely on to something
with this overall design.....it is all up to what an individual wants......but, I will say
again, if I was standing in front of a raider and stryker.....raider will be my choice
all over again.

Hey guys.....Well after reading the replys after the posting of my question..... I ran into a friend of mine who is a Yamaha rep (east coast)....gonna wait and see what he can do and get for me and make my decision on that. He gets to drive any bike of his choice and hes owned both already (stryker and raider, and that they get them early). He said he really likes the stryker and thinks from word of mouth that its going to be a big hit. He also said that he thought there would be a ton of aftermarket parts just from all the talk (like the road star). So....as you can see and hear (hint..hint) the direction Ill probably go in. :) Ill keep you guys updated....until then...happy motoring! :)

you can turn either one into what you want....BigDaddyTx put
some real nice bags on his stryker. I really like them.

I do agree that the stryker will and already has alot of accessories
and probably will be a very popular bike. It is very comfortable to
ride and handles great.....lets face it, a 1300cc engine is really
nothing to sneeze at.......
