Do you consider yourself a Biker or a Rider???
Friends ask me, now that I am back to riding a bike after being away from one for so many years, things like... "I didn't know you were a biker".. Or "What, you a biker now"? or stupid things like "You gonna start wearing leather vests and jackets now?"

I call myself a "Rider" and I love the feeling of freedom you get when you take the back roads into town rather than the straight hiway or just ride for the sake of riding.
I don't know anyone who just gets in their car and drives for no reason with no destination in mind but on a bike it's different.
I love owning and riding my Stryker and I'm proud of how dang fine it looks and sounds.
I love the looks I get or should I say the looks my bike gets from folks.

So what are you?
A biker?, A Rider?

Why do you ride?

Guess you could say I'm a biker/motorhead. Been riding on two wheels since I was 8 and wrenching on anything motorized for since the first bike (actually before much to my parents dismay). Did a stint as a bodyman in my younger days during which time I also restored a number of antique show cars, custom painted a number of bikes and hot rods for customers and myself. I've never been able to leave my own vehicles stock and have also built dirt bikes and this neat little offroad buggy from a pile of raw materials. Part of my current job is mechanic for the company fleet including backhoes, tractors and a fleet of 17 cars and trucks when I'm not operating them. Here's a pic of the buggy, great fun but right now it's in need of a motor.

I get the same remarks :) "I didn't know you were a 'biker'"... but it's like people calling me an ambulance driver, and not knowing what the job really involves.
I guess I would be a "rider" only because of the stereotypical impression the term "biker" a lot of non-enthusiasts have...I am definitely not that kind of 'biker'.

I know exactly what you mean about a destination. I'll just jump on my bike and do a loop around Western Mass. for ha-ha's

Owning a bike means never being bored :))))

I'm a biker without a club :) I do my own work, ride wherever, whenever, with my leathers in place if I think I'll need em, and no particular attitude other than the one I get when I am feeling free as a bird with the wind in my face. Think I saw it on a sticker once- bikers are the only ones who truly understand the joy a dog feels with its head out the window!

I think you'd find there are many drivers for the cars/trucks that do just hop in their vehicle to take it for a spin. To me the difference between them and most others is they have a passion for their vehicle - whether it be restored or hot rodded. We have a street here in the city where you will find a lot of bikes and cars going up and down the street just cruising.

Am I a biker or rider? I'm whatever the person asking wants me to be. I just enjoy riding - whether it be to ride to a destination or just to ride. I have friends that I ride with but find that most need to get their beauty sleep and don't get mobile till late morning, early afternoon. Because of that I find myself doing a lot of riding by myself in the early mornings - no traffic to content with and get to enjoy the sights the mornings bring
