Is there a way to disable the auto canceling for our turn signals? I've found it works against me more than it helps and is just unnecessary. I'm tired of getting to a stop light only to find out the signal i just turned on, has already turned itself off.

Sounds like you are turning your turn signal on way too soon. Should turn it on at about 100 ft or so, not 200ft out. :p

Am I wrong!?

Maybe... Its on a timer I believe
By design, it is 15 seconds while the motorcycle is in movement. If it is stopped, the timer do not apply and the signal never turns off.

I guess we should read the owners manual more often. heres directly from the owners manual "Since this model is equipped with a self-canceling system, the turn singal lights will self-cancel after the vehicle has traveled both about 150m (490 ft) and for approximately 15 seconds."

good luck bypassing it. from the wiring diagram its wired into both the ecm and speedo sensor. well actually looking at the wiring diagram if you disconnect the white wire from the relay that may work. it looks like the white one is the control from the ecm not sure what it does with the relay id disconnect it and see what it did if that was bugging me.

I turn on my signal just as i enter a turning lane - doesn't seem like that should be so unreasonable. Maybe our turning lanes here (MN) are just longer than normal? /shrug

Well how about if you don't put your turn signal on until after you have started getting in the turning lane. Just a thought.

Or i could ask a question on the forum to see if anybody knows how to bypass the auto disable so it will stop fighting me and let me actually control when my blinkers are on or off. Just a thought.
read my post earlier...

Man dude. Change your tampon. I wasn't trying to be smart or cute. I read your original post and all the ones that followed. A bunch of people were saying it might be harder than you think. I was just offering a sugestion that if all failed you could just adjust your riding habits. I guess if it really bothers you that bad and you can't dissconnect it you could just get another bike. I'm sorry if I did something to piss you off.

I got my feelings hurt today. You wan a know why? I'll tell you why. I was planning on going on a 450 mile ride tomorrow in the hill country of Texas riding the 3 sisters (a 100 mile stretch of three country roads that has more sweepers than a custodial staff). It's rated as the top ride in Texas by a few magazines. Anyway, I have to pass bc my wife has a baby shower to attend and I have to watch the kids. That my friends hurts.
