Well I have had this bike for over a month now and had a chance to put in some long miles over the weekend. The bike looks great and turns heads but thats about it. The MPG has not been good (may improve after service). Riding over 75 mph is simply not cool due to the wind. The engine is lacking overall in the area of power and smoothness. This bike is good for cruising around town for me but I need something that can offer more. Therefore, this Stryker will be going up for sale in the near future.

This is a chopper, the position is giving you that wind effect. If you like it smooth you can install a windshield. To make the bike run smoother with a more constant power band, install a Cobra Fi2000 PowrPro Tuner.

But your mind might be already set for another bike ...this is why there are lot of models on the market. Not everyone like the same thing.

Hmmmmm... Something's wrong.... I'm coming from almost a decade of mostly sportbikes and a few cruisers. Out of all the cruisers I've owned, this thing takes off like a bat outta **** especially after I adjusted the throttle immensely! As far as speed, My everyday ride to work at 1am averages between 85 and 105 mph and it runs smooth as ****! I don't want the windshield, I just wear a full face. Homnestly... either something's up with your bike or I got lucky because everything from take off to cruisin' at high speeds is perfect for a cruiser. I've owned 2 ZX10R's, 1 Hyabusa, 1 R1, 2 600RR's and 1 636..all of which can go from 0 to 100 in seconds so I'm very familiar with the feel and torque of the machine. This ain't a rocket but it's got one helluva kick for a cruiser. My friend who owns a Kawi Mean streak(1500CC's) and quite a few HD owners with much bigger engines were blown away when we all took off from a stop! Again, Something's seriously not right on your end. As far as gas mileage, I do 60 hard miles a day to and from work and put 87 in it and it's only costing me 5 bucks a day! AWESOME compared to my 4 cylinder Sport Bikes which I HAD to use 93 octane and burned gas like a mutha, I was putting 9-10 bucks a day for the same distance!

I myself have owned a quite a few bikes... this is my largest engine size yet... I started riding dirt bikes as a kid and even got into racing motocross... i then went to rockets, and all i kept doing on the rockets was getting in trouble. lol.. this is my second cruiser to own and it does ride different from my last... probably because of the chopper style. it has plenty of power even in 5th. you may just need more time in the saddle to get used to this style of bike.

the only advise i can give you is you are not happy with your purchase sell it and go buy something else. pretty much all of us on this forum love our strykers and you will get that bias from everyone that likes their bike. same thing will happen with any other bike that someone likes they will give you their bias opinion on that bike.

just do what you feel is necessary

I have run into a few Raider owners and have had the opportunity to ride the Raider. If you like the Stryker style but feel it's under powered then the Raider is the bike for you. Basically the same bike with a bigger engine. Good luck and I hate to hear you're disappointed.

Thanks Shane. Yep, should have tried the Raider but oh well. No need to dwell on this right? Blessed to even have or ride a bike so I will keep it through the summer and make a decision. Peace!

Believe it or not, I've got my eye on a particular '10 ZX6R at my dealership just so I can have the best of both worlds. Brand new and I'm told if it doesn't sell by the Fall, I can get it for a crazy ass price. I've bought 5 bikes from this guy already and so far the best deal was an '08 ZX10R OTD for 8 grand... but I'll always keep the Stryker for the long runs! Can't wait to see what he's gonna sell it for ;D

What I've learned is that riding motorcycles is a disease. As soon as you have a new bike you see something else you want. There will always be bigger and better bikes out there. My goal is to make this one mine by customizing it just the way I like so I can take it to classic motorcycle shows in twenty years!

Rich, thanks. I am not beating myself up just diffusing some hostile responses from the others with my verbal judo....LOL. Like you said, I am riding!

Sorry to hear of your disappointment, StrykED. My only criticisms are the lash in the drivetrain and a sensitive throttle, both of which I have learned how how to minimize. A short windshield should help with the windblast. As for power, I am very pleased with the accelleration and also with the smoothness. If you think the Stryker shakes try an old Harley Shovelhead for size. Hope you find what you're looking for.
