I noticed recently that barons sells the same links for the vstar 1100 for use on the Stryker. That got me thinking my home made links for my 1100 could be used on my Stryker. Sho nuff, they did the trick. Here is the recipe:
- figure out how much drop you want. I wanted 1 1/4" on my vstar and that sounded good for the Stryker too.
- divide the drop by 3.6 (the magic multiplier). For 1 1/4" that is 5/16".
- add that to the stock 5 1/2" center to center measure. That gives me 5 13/16" center to center or about 7" overall.
- get some 1/4" steel and cut two strips 1 1/4" wide x desired overall length
- drill two 1/2" holes (12mm if you have metric bits) at the new center to center length.
- paint em to avoid rust and install.
The 3.6 multiplier was worked out by Steve Schnieder of CycleForay and works perfect on the Stryker. Cost: less than $10 if you have the bits, paint, and cutting disks.
