Coming home from work today, I was making a normal turn. It's a stupid one - left turn lane on the 58 freeway, make the turn. 50 feet later, super sharp right turn. I usually drag my peg through the second turn at 10-15mph or so. Guess I was going a little faster today.

Half way through the turn, dragging the foot peg, suddenly I felt the whole bike go squirrely for a second. I thought I dragged the engine bars. I just rode it out with no problems, and after my initial "holy crap I could have died" reaction, rode the rest of the way home. Got home and looked around for what was dragging - it was the bracket holding the footpeg and the back break cylinder and whatnot.

So, yeah. Don't do that.

You peg grinders make me wonder :-\

But seriously what bike are you coming from? Just wanted to hear...both my other bikes are fairly low..so maybe I'm just use to not putting them into full tilt...again just wondering.

My last daily rider was a 84 Honda Shadow... but I also ride my CBR600 and CBR250.

Honestly, I don't see how you can ride this bike and not drag the foot pegs all the time, they're so low. I'd have to go 5mph through turns I take every day to avoid it.

That's not really the point, though - the pegs are designed to drag. They just fold up, make some noise and you keep going. I was dragging a fixed bracket, which the whole bike will pivot on and lift your tires off the ground.

My last bike was a ninja......been years though.... Guess if I plan riding the twisties with my buddy on a crotch rocket, may end up grinding again

Don't like how grinding seemed to kick my foot off the peg.......

Certainly won't be trying to grind....

The last bike I had was a ninja zx6r - I traded that in on the Stryker this summer. I've had the same issues with grinding the pegs as well. I changed out the pegs for floorboards, and if I do happen to grind, my foot seems a lot more secure than on the pegs

Wrong bike for that. Even my old honda silverwing (scooter) would have left anyone on a stryker in the dust in any kind of twistys. To be honest I miss that kind of riding. I guess I will have to be content for a while in its tire shredding ability.
