Q: do any of you successfully drag the footpegs on your Stryker?
The reason I ask is I’d like to know the capabilities & limitations of my new Stryker before diving in too hard. Right now I’m dragging the heal of my boot through the occasional turn, and looking at the wear on my tires the outer ¾” edge is still unscuffed. I was comfortable dragging footpegs 20yrs ago when I used to race crochrockets on the track but I have no idea if the Stryker is capable of this or not. And just to be clear I have no intention of tearing up the canyon roads with this cruiser, I would just like to know the bike’s capabilities if I find myself going in a little too hot into a tight turn, it would be nice to know I can stick with it instead of straightening the bike up and grabbing a handful of break. Your Stryker experiences would be appreciated. Thanks, Terry

Thank you both for your replies, very helpful.
Joker: what are “frwd controls” ?
Moves your feet position farther forward, I thought installing these would actually make it more difficult to grind, seems to not be the case, although it just may be that I'm so used to the back road to work now, that I lean farther....

Here's a link on them (Scootmods 3" is what I have), numerous other links if you use the search feature

I completely destroyed a set of Kuryakyn stilleto pegs in less than 2 days from some overly spirited riding recently. I'll try and put up pics. I had it one inch lowered but still... Back on standards, much more willing to take the scrapes. I think I will have to buy some backups. I have my 240 to put on next week so hopefully that will give me a little more clearance.

With a completely stock set up you should be able to hit the edge of your tire with out touching your heals. I scraped my pegs a bit but never touche my heals. I think you need to adjust your foot angle. I wore out my stock rear tire in 3,100 miles completely bald from the sides first then the center.

Yes Toby you are correct, I have been purposely letting my heal hang lower than the footpeg to help gage my clearance to the road, not knowing if it was safe on this bike to dive in harder. But now I know thanks to feedback you guys have given me. Cheers.

My Raider is stock height with a 240 I've scraped my exhaust directly behind the footpeg....so don't expect any extra clearance

Scrape every day I ride. I've got forward foot controls and the kury swing wings so, scrape the wings extended or in. Bike handles great. My old bike as a Vulcan 800 and there was one time where I bounced on the foot peg, hit so hard I picked up the rear wheel and skidded over the road a little. Luckily I haven't had that happen on the Stryker, but the bikes can handle it. Start by pushing it on turns that you know well and feel comfortable on.

I drag mine all the time, too, stock chassis. The first time may catch you off guard, but the Stryker handles it well. Start by purposely leaning the bike sharper than necessary in a safe and open corner, that way if you instinctively rise up out of it you'll have plenty of room. My rear tire doesn't have any "chicken strip" left, and my right boot heels have really exaggerated ground down edges now, because I keep my toe above the brake. I've got almost 4k miles on the bike and am getting close to needing to replace the rear tire. I'll be upgrading to the 240 series, which should give me the ability to lean a little more before scraping the peg. In my opinion, it's a good idea to drag your pegs in a controlled situation as often as you need to get comfortable with it so you're not startled when it happens unexpectedly!! Safe riding, friends!!

I went from a crotch rocket to this bike. I was dragging the crap out of it every where I went. I had to relearn how to ride. I am very appreciative that our foot pegs are hinged and not solid mount. if they had been I probably would have put it in a ditch the first couple of weeks that I owned it.

I agree...caught me off guard the first couple times....now on my normal road to work, I scrape often and is not alarming....except when taking the more twisty, longer route to work, when having to go slower thru the quick back and forth turns....

I'm used to the scrapping on the longer gradual turns, not so much when having to down shift, on those really tight turns....on unfamiliar roads...

I too came from the world of sportbikes (SPORTBIKES!!!! not "crotch rockets"<-- a derogatory term in most sportbike circles....lol). Anyway, I have a complete stock set up regarding foot pegs, ride height, and rear tire. I have little bits of rubber rolling over the very edge of my tire - zero chick strips - and I do drag my heal at least a couple times a day because I prefer to keep the pegs under the balls of my feet (think sportbike again here) and my heels hang low. However, I have only touched the pegs down a handful of times. So, I am thinking that since I know am already at the edge of the tire and I almost never touch the pegs down, going too much further is probably asking for a lowside. I see a 240 in my future.....

I just put the Elite 3 240/40-18 on mine, and rode my normal route to work today after breaking the tire in. In the curves where I normally drag the pegs, today I did not! That extra 1" or so gain from the new tire really makes a difference...and the ride comfort is drastically improved! I'm happy! Now maybe my boot-heels will last longer!!

When I put my 240 on there was a similar reaction. I can drag peg at higher speeds now ;D
