I'm a relatively new rider who has been dreaming about owning a Stryker since before I got licensed. I've spent the last few months on a CBR250R. I rode the **** out of it and learned a lot, but I'm still learning. When someone offered to buy my Honda for a great price, I could not resist going after my "unicorn."
So, my shiny red Stryker is being delivered on Friday!

I'm going to take it slow and practice my slow speed handling while I get used to the added weight. At 5'10" and 210lbs I should be okay, but any advice is always appreciated.

I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve...

Welcome to the forum, 'eh! :p

Practicing slow speed maneuvering.... You have to understand that compared to the 250, at friction zone speeds this thing is a boat. Just keep your eyes up and keep practicing. Congrats on your purchase!

The one thing I learned very early on is keep your eyes scanning for trouble and always look where you want to go in curves and your body will react to make you steer that way, hope that made sense, enjoy the ride my friend

Glad to hear you're getting a Stryker. The motorcycle beginners courses will give you plenty of slow speed practice and great riding tips. Highly recommend it. I did it when I got my license a few years ago.

Does Wormburner refer to your golf shot ? Is the 250 Honda you sold the sportsbike 250 version? Pretty neat bike. I saw some U-tube videos where the rider took it up to 100 mph. Scary ! I can't imagine the Stryker for a new rider but just take it slow till you figure out your limitations. Lkie Clint said, " A man's gotta know his limitations" or something like that. ;D

I'm not as new as I sound. I've been riding since March and I passed the MSF course with a perfect score back in the first week of April. However, I'm respectful of the fact that I have a great deal to learn on the streets. As a 38-year old father of two, I have reason to be mindful of my limits. The CBR sport bike really just felt like too small a bike. The power was certainly adequate, but I felt like a gorilla on a tricycle. I always use the "look where you want to go, trailing brake, and friction zone" tactics during slow manouvres. That said, it's going to be a different ball of wax with the Stryker.

I'm sooo freaking excited!
And thanks again for all the welcomes. :)

Pics of my 2012 Reddish Copper just added to the gallery.
Welcome to the forum! Just a quick clarification -- isn't that a 2012 Red Stryker? If so, I think it's one of the few on the forum. I have the Reddish Copper...different color combo on the tank. Color aside, you'll dig the bike. Enjoy!

Wow. I'm also a Canadian father of 2 who rides a Stryker and just recently got my endorsement. I also did a training course. I fell a couple points short of perfect on the riding portion (slipped out of the figure 8 test box at one end by the width of the front tire, dammit). Also, I'm 39 instead of 38, otherwise that post sounds exactly like me. I even have a connection to TO as I was born there (North York, Shepherd/Younge area)

Welcome. Good luck. Ride safe.
