seen several posts about many of you that have drilled several hole here. first, is it worth the effort if im not planning on new exhaust anytime soon and second, can someone post a picture of this?? not that i dont trust this suggestion, but i got burned by my friends on jeepforum once over a joke mod, www.kaleautomotive.com. thanks...
there are a few pics under the gallery. i dont have any pics but i have done it. i put 4 1/2 holes in each pipe. anything smaller will not sound good. it was kind of tingy but i LOVE the sound with the 1/2 holes.
did the drilling. drilled 4 1/2" holes @12,3,6 & 9 o'clock and then did 1/4" holes between each of those. could hardly believe my ears at the difference. soory, newbie excitement....
new guy here and just asking a stupide question... i know this has been discussed in mnay threads but is it really good for the engine to drill holes in the exhaust. i have to admit it sounds good on the youtube vids, but does the cat really hold all the backpressure to keep the engine from running too rich/lean? i kinda like the stock exhaust...well enough to wait for the right aftermarket.... but i would like a deeper sound

aftermarket exhaust allows alot more air flow then drilling the holes no issues on mine and it seems to run alittle cooler the fan doesn't kick on as much. bike and atv manufactures set the air/fuel mixture alittle on the rich side stock so adding aftermarket exhaust you'll still be good drilling the holes your only letting out about half the airflow most aftermarket pipes do.
I started out with four 1/2" holes in each baffle and then ended up drilling 8 holes in each before I got my aftermarket pipes. Sounded much better than stock and ran great.

A Gatlin gun for sure Still cheaper then buying aftermarket pipes. Waiting for Cobra to come out with the black slip-on. supposed to be out end of this month I believe.

I thought you were referring to the slip on. I am really leaning towards the swepts and that picture of yours may have just pushed me over the top. Are you running a power commander or any other type of fuel management on yours?
The slip on meaning factory cat, just everything back. Got it now. No power commander, although one is in the near future. Apparently you don't need one until you do an air intake and exhaust. Backfires and pops a bit on decel, but that's it. No problems otherwise.
