Anyone use any ear buds when they ride? and if you do, have any you recommend? OR recommend not using any at all and listening to music due to safety concerns?

i have a skid lid, and i have a few long rides this summer starting next week. i dont plan to listen to the wind the whole way.

I usually listen thru earbuds on longer rides. I suggest a set with an audio control on the cord. The volume level will need to be pretty high at cruising speed to hear the music over the wind and pipes. When you slow down or stop that level will blow your ears off if you can't turn it down.

I use Klipsch for work and on the bike. No longer have info but I think they are noise reducing so even if you need to turn up for hiway they are not overly loud for in town or when stopped. They have 2 styles that best buy carries, 1 is plain ear buds and others have a mic and would assume volume control. Beware of sticker shock but they are durable I was replacing the cheap $20-30 ear buds every 2-3 months these things went about 6... With the 1 year warrenty didn't cost a dime to replace. I also feel skull candy don't hold a candle to them. I used 2 identical iPods and put skull in 1 ear and klipsch in other and there was quite a difference in sound quality.

Similar the the Klipsch are the Bose ear buds. The noise cancelling feature along with volume control make these great earphones. What also separates these from others is how well they fit in your ear and pretty much eliminate wind noise. Yep...a little pricy but like most things in life you get what you pay for. Just my 2 cents.

I use the over the ear kind, ear buds fall out of my ears. I wear them on long rides and to work cause I love to listen to Bob and Tom.
Do the fall out when riding because of the wind?? If the do and your buds have the slider on them just slide it up to take some of the slack out of cord. I found that helps even when traveling at interstate speeds.

My hearing is $hit and not into music or hearing the old Lady tell me how to drive, so the Bike blatt is the only thing I want to hear. Very relaxing. Must be an age thing Boys!!

I use the S4i they sound great. When I ride with my half helmet sometimes I have problems keeping them in. But if you have a helmet that the strap goes over your ear it should hold them in.

For all my motorcycling needs, I haven't been able to beat the Shure 215's. I used the foamy buds on them, they fit like ear plugs with 37db noise reduction. They come with three different styles of plugs, though, in three sizes each. Even with my super loud bike, I can hear some tunes at reasonable volumes with good clarity. They fit completely inside the ear and have a couple inches of stiff cord that wraps around the top of the ear, so no issues with them being yanked around or falling out or ripping off your ears with a helmet.

The only downside is, if they're in and music is playing you're effectively deaf.

Hubby and I have Cardio Scala headsets. One of the beauties of these is, when we're not riding together, you can plug your mp3 player in and listen thru the Scala speakers. It doesn't completely eliminate the road noise, so I like that I can hear idiot drivers running up on me. Last year hubby got me the Kuryakyn Sound of Chrome speaker set. I use that for longer trips, or when we're riding together so we can talk on the Scala headsets.

I have a full face and only use one ear bud with the volume on my phone about halfway or so. I've got these Philips O'Neal ear buds. They have some noise reduction and they're cord doesn't tangle. I've used a couple styles of skullcandy and the cord after awhile has started to fall apart. I've really liked the Philips O'Neal. A friend of mine had trouble finding some in stores after I showed him mine. I bought them at best buy and you can find them online. I think around $30.

Don't wear any. Not legal here. Everyone should check the state or provicial laws in your area. Many people don't know that there are laws in certain areas that prohibit the use of ear plugs/buds while operating a motorized vehical.
