I started wearing ear plugs about 6 or 7 years ago and now I don't ride without them. At first I thought that they would detract from my ride because I could not hear the engine, and thus shift points as well, but I have adjusted and I can hear the engine just fine. The big PLUS is that the plugs cut wind noise and make the ride much more enjoyable, especially on long distances. Some here are very conscious about safety. How about your hearing? Anyone else wear ear plugs. ::)

Don't wear them on the way to or from work. It's only a short ride :( , I wear a full face, and I never get above 45. I always wear them on longer trips where I get going a little faster.

Too funny 11!
This is a good thread. I’ve been thinking about trying earplugs because of excessive wind noise whether I wear a ½ helmet or full helmet, and if I’m forced to put-put in slow traffic my pipes even get on my nerves a bit (but I love it when they can scream :D)

I thought I would resurrect this thread as I started wearing ear plugs on longer rides. I am considering custom made ones as I would like to keep my hearing. Any others wearing?
I picked up some ear plugs on my last trip to Maui to keep the water out of my ears while snorkeling.
(It never used to bother me but it does now)
Anyway, I found THESE and they feel like simple silicone balls that you use to cover the hole in your head, NOT to go deep into your ears.
They pretty much disappear unlike those bright yellow or orange foam ones.
I only use them when I'm going to be on the freeway for hours on end.
Otherwise I prefer to hear the sweet music that my pipes make!
BTW, although they are silicone they don't leave any residue on your fingers or ears, they stay semi solid and are re-usable.
Also great for flying, or any other rapid elevation change without having to pop your ears to equalize pressure.

I wear a full face and ear-buds for my work commute. I can still hear necesarry things even with the music going.

*just be careful when some good rock comes up on your playlist shuffle or you'll find yourself going 95mph!!*
