Are the gaskets supposed to look like this or is this evidence of a leak?
Just removed them to install Cobra Swepts. I have OEM replacements on hand.
Just trying to piece the puzzle together as to why I'm getting so much surging when riding and stumbling at idle/stops.

My opinion, no they are not leaking. But it was worth replacing them to cross that off the list.

it looks to me like they ARE leaking.
If there is soot on the outside diameter of the gasket then yes, they are leaking.
FWIW I used a fine film of Ultra high temp, black permatex on both surfaces of the gasket to make up for any inconsistencies in heads or pipes.
Mine no longer leak.

no, don't look like they are supporting a leak at this time. what are you using for pipes and an auto tuner? do you have a aftermarket air box?

I am with AR, they are definitely leaking. Those nut's where not tight enough obviously.

AR- I'll try the permatex when I install the new gaskets with the Cobra Swepts.

mikoloe- I just took off the stock exhaust to install the Cobra's. I'm running the Cobra autotuner and air intake.
