I am pretty sure that just adding pipes without anything else will give you a performance gain. It did when I added my cobra swepts. Smoothed most of the lag out to. As others have stated, that is fine by itself but if you add an intake you will need a processor to go along with it.

V&H is trying to sell you more than just pipes. You will be OK without fuel pak till you go changing intake. But you probably will be like the rest of us and continue to mod, so might as well get the FuelPak. LOL

You will be fine without fuelpak for now then. I sure prices will continue to drop anyway.

V&H are blowing smoke up your backside in order to dig a little deeper in your wallet, as a tuner isn't needed just for the exhaust. Exhaust will increase your performance and change your shift points up a bit too.
Not sure if it was because I changed it first, but exhaust seemed to make the most difference out of all my mods.

I just bought my V&H big radius pipes from IndySuperBikes, for like $594, no tax, free shipping. Best prices around and they'll beat anyone's prices, or so they say. I'm satisfied, took 5 business days to get them to my door.

You should see about a refund then, or at least credit towards your next purchace. I'm not sure if these other guys charge tax, but their price is definitely better:
