Need some opinions - which should I get for my Stryker? Some info: Not really experienced with tuning. Planning on a new intake and full exhaust at the same time I get the FI2000whatever.

Is the PowrPro worth twice the price? Or is it better to get one the FI2000R models and have the ability to tweak it? Would I need the O2 sensor model? Are there other brands/models to consider that work better?

With the powerpro you don't have to purchase an auto tuner or have the bike dyno'd. In the end it will be about the same in cost. I like and have the powerpro but there have been some issues with the fuel/air mix at certain slower cruising speeds which causes chugging. The census is that all types are having this problem.

I have the power commander 5 with the lcd display option, it comes with an o2 optimizer.
What I like is that I can create my own maps and switch back and forth between them while riding.
Also, with the lcd unit I can monitor any conditions I dont like and modify them once I come back from a ride and hook up my laptop.
Also has a 1/4 mile simulator so I can see if my bike actually goes faster with changes vs. just feeling faster.
I spent almost 2 hours on the phone with their tech line when I got it but can now use every feature of the unit and I creatd all the maps I use myself. maps can be saved to the unit, your laptop or an sd card.
If you dont want to mess with it, there is also an autotune acessory you can buy.
Definetly reccomend it, if you buy it and have any questions I would be more than happy to help.
Also, I have no chugging or bucking issues, my bike runs perfect, however when I switch to maps for more power, she gets a little lumpy at cruising speeds, which is expected because of the map itself.

comes down solely to personal preference... Sure there is some issues with the Autotune setups... but those are being worked out... There are fewer "reported" issues with the "Mapping" tuners.. but just as many hassles. With the autotune, Theoretically it finds the sweet spot and squirts the proper amount of fuel for a given RPM range. For the Mapped tuners... you have to find the sweet spot yourself, then program the switches on the tuner. every time you change something to d withe air, fuel or exhaust components... you have to re-map the tuner. The Autotuner does this automatically.

Just food for thought...

SFCM has it right. Its a personal taste. Some on this forum will swear by the Cobra Auto tune or FI2000R etc.. But they are all having problems. Yes they will fix the problems, but I guarantee that all the problems will never be fixed, because even though we all own Strykers (must 2011), not all two bike are really the same and not all riders ride the same. And even though the Auto tune is suppose to correct this problem I believe it never truly will. There are many other companys out there that have them as well such as Fuel Pak (some are having problems with this one also), I had it on my other bike and was more then happy with it. Bottom line what do you want to pay? If they are all going to give me problems, then I"ll spend $300 over $600 any day. :)

I cant speak for the autotune units since I dont have one nor the cobra units because when I saw ppl complaining of mil lights and waiting 5 months for my exhaust I steered clear, however when it comes to the power commander most issues are user related. You are the one entering the map and telling it what to do, so if that info is wrong the bike will run accordingly. I have logged over 2000km with not a single issue or driveability concern once I got a map adjusted the way I wanted.
Enter a proper map and your bike is running perfect. The map(s) they provide are just a baseline as far as im concerned and will make the bike run rough bucking at cruising speeds and backfiring on decel.
Also keep in mind people have different riding skills, some cruise at higher rpm than others and shift at different times, your map must cater to this for a perfect tune.
Taking advantage of all of the units features either requires the lcd, or a laptop and a dyno. I prefer the lcd because your monitoring the bike in real riding situations, you just need to remember what rpm range, gear and throttle position you were at when the bike did something wrong, then get out your laptop and change it and try again. A dyno is good to squeeze out hp but not so hot to make a nice tune for cruising imho.
Yes there is alot to learn when tuning, however once you know what your doing you will never hook up an autotune again.

If you don't own one or don't know then why do you bother typing?

The only chugging I experience is the same issue I had from before I installed the PowrPro. It is very mild and only while cruising at certain rpms. If I understand it correctly the cobra unit mainly adds fuel under acceleration, and then goes into a cruising mode which wouldn't really address the chugging issue which the bike exhibited from the factory. Did it change any in your experience?

The only unit I have any experience with is the autotune, and so far it has been great. It adjusted after I installed it, and I changed some more parts out and it adjusted itself again without any input. If you want a tuner that you simply plug in and ride, the Powrpro is a good choice.

It probably boils down to figuring out which unit you can afford and would feel more comfortable with. Unless of course someone will be doing all the work for you, then its just about the $$ ;D

I have a 2013 Yamaha stryker and last year I installed a cobra swept exhaust as well as cobra power flow air intake. When I found out that I have to tune my engine, I did a little research before I made up my mind. With a power commander you have to take your bike to the dyno every single time you add a new accessory to the engine. I decided to go with cobra Fi2000PowerPro. As soon as I installed it did bike is running great. It automaticaly calculates air to fuel ratio about 80 times per second and i have no issues with piwer delivery. I am very happy with my purchase and I can highly recommend it if you have a similar set up.
I know the cobra just came out with a black Fi2000r model and that you can adjust your air to fuel ratio on your own even when it does it automatically, BUT if you adjust it yourseft you have to agree to terms of Cobra agreement that YOU are responsible for everything if something goes bad. I am not sure if that's an option you want to go with. I am not sure if that's an option you want to go with.

Wow. He's been waiting 4 1/2 years for an answer! I bet he's glad that wait is over. :D
