The (un)fortunate thing is that it's not a Stryker. But fortunately I'm uber happy with my choice.

Well it's been a few weeks since I got it actually. I just haven't gotten around to posting it.
I was in the market for a newer bike after I sold my 750 Shadow. Went looking around, debated on the Honda Fury, the Honda Sabre. Fury was too skinny, Sabre was decent with more passenger space... Then I found the Stryker. Instantly I wanted one. It was exactly what I was looking for. Blacked out from the factory, cool looking exhaust, a bigger motor, and CHEAPER than the Hondas I was looking at.

Since I had so much trouble finding them around me, I decided that I'd have to travel to Houston to probably find a Raven one. After a few weeks of looking and making calls, I decided to chill out on it and look into a Honda 1800.
Then it went down to the VTX 1300s. I kind of jumped around a bit with what I was wanting. Till I decided to look to see what Baton Rouge had online for used bikes. I found a Yamaha/Honda dealership in BR that had Strykers for $9,999!!! Since I finally found a semi-local dealer that could possibly find me a Raven one, I decided to look into the Strykers again. On a whim I checked out their used inventory. Then I found it.

2007 Harley Davidson VRSCDX Night Rod Special. $9,999, MINT condition, came with a windshield. It was just like the Stryker but more menacing looking, blacked out, larger rear seat for my gf and has a backrest/luggage rack that doesn't look like an abortion like my Honda's did (I did like the Strykers factory backrest tho), dual front brakes, THE FASTEST thing Harley makes, fuel injected, water cooled......
For a little cheaper than the Strykers.
Oh, and I got a 2 year FULL warranty on it. It covers everything except general maintenance.
I would of bit on a Stryker, but this was too much of a Black Sheep to pass up. Harley offers a 2 year warranty on NEW bikes... But to get this for a little more than a grand under the NADA ($11,300) AND get a 2 year full coverage warranty? I couldn't pass it up.

Hence why I posted it in the GENERAL MOTORCYCLE FORUM

Bike Talk
Non-Stryker bike talk...
You didn't have to read it. I was just really interested in a Stryker for a long time and I browsed this forum a LOT recently when learning about em. I might not have a ton of posts here (more than you at least), but I do keep up with the forum and community here. I just thought I'd post up what I ended up getting since it was "Stryker-ish"

I think it's got some of the Harley sound. It's difficult for me to say firsthand since it's the stock exhaust and it's super quiet and since I've never seen any vrods other than mine in town so far. It's different from the normal line of Harleys i beleive because it's got overhead cams and because it's water cooled. But it should have the single crank so it should have some of that sound. It's weird because it wraps up to 9 grand. When I'm just doing normal riding I shift around 3-4k and it doesn't really sound too loud. When you hammer it it's got this slight valve clatter and then it's sportbikish in the higher rpm range.

I wanna put some simple slip-ons to get a little more Harley "potato potato" sound. There's lots of vids of em on YouTube and it does kind of have the HD sound. Its still a twin, just revs really high.

well its a nice bike. i had looked at the night rod in the showroom. its got clean lines. i just couldnt handle the price. but as i have stated before the Stryker drew to me.. and i dont regret it one minute. i just love getting off that bike and its sitting under a tree at my work.. and it just screams "pssst.. look over here, i'm bad and i ride sweet".

anyways.. Acid. if you ever put some other pipes on a la Cobra's or V&H's i wouldnt mind seeing some pics or hearing it.

btw.. what's the other bike in the second pic and who's is that?

Well Harleys were out of my price range too, but when I found this for a little lower than the Strykers with a full warranty I couldn't pass it up. I'm not married to any brand and I honestly hate the Harley stigma. A bike is a bike and I'll ride with anyone who's got any bike. One thing I like about the Night Rod is that all the Harley badges are black and you have to look for em. I'm debating on doing a custom paint job with a Porsche logo on the tank. The tank is actually the air filter cover, the gas tank is under the seat. Porsche helped design the Evolution Vtwin in the Vrods.

The other bike in the pic is my old '03 Honda Shadow. My first bike that I was trying to sell to move up to a bigger bike that I'd keep longer. A local guy bought it for his first bike.

I looked at the vrod before I chose the Stryker. I love the aggressive look but I would of had to change the handlebars out to something that would let me sit back more. I actually sat on one that had the bars changed out to a set the were pulled further back and it was really comfortable. There was a 2006 cvo that was sick!

Lol, I think a lot of what draws me to the bike is how much the hd die hards hate it. Even a friend of mine with a softtail said that the Vrod and the rocker are the only two Harleys he can't stand. With me ita vice versa. I don't like 90% of what Hd puts out. The tanks aren't great, the lines are kinda meh. I'm a big fan of aggressive lines. Thats why the Stryker was one of the top contenders for me.

Has anyone noticed that the people who have been on here the least seem to be the ones who are the rudest?

Dude there is no shame in jumping on a great deal. Thats a beautiful bike. I hope you enjoy it. This is a place where people come to talk about Strykers and anything else that may pop up on their mind.
