Got my last small bag yesterday and got it mounted on my shortened backrest rack. So with that and my new hardmounted saddlebags and toolbag on left swing arm, I am finally good to go. Looks so much better with the chopped rear fender than the original luggage setup I had. I think anywho. Here are a couple before and after shots.

I machined the spacers of the QR mounts so I could put the Star support bars inside between backrest and fender instead of outside backrest. Then I put flat aluminum rail (12"x2") inside bags and drilled holes thru these and bags. Then I just bolted them right thru hard bags & QR spacers, then Support Bars and into Fender. Also used a black plastic clipboard (minus the clip) on the outside of bag to make a sandwich so to speak with the side of bag. This gives support to the bag and also keeps them from moving toward items such as belt guard and pulley on left side.

Thanks Strom and XVS13!

XVS13- I heard you had a nice ride today. Hope weather held off long enough to get home.

I like the tail bag. Would probably like the saddle bags if I liked saddle bags at all.
Thanks, I hate them period,, but hate the way my bike looked more with the backrest luggage. I will only have these mounted when I go on a 2up ride with the Wife. Going back to Normal solo setup tomorrow!!

Looks good 11. How long does it take you to go from your one up chopper to the two up cruiser now? or are you leaving the bags on when using your solo seat?
Hey Bozz- Only takes about 5 minutes. only the 2 bolts for each saddlebag setup which is all interconnected with the QR receivers. Clip backrest on, Pop the solo seat off, and Clip passenger pillion in rear loop & then small nut at front. Pop solo seat back on and away we go. There maybe times when riding solo that I have to pick up something at a store I can put the saddlebags on riding solo. Did that Friday night when I went to Lowes and Gamestop.

I love the way my bike looks without anything on her, however up here in these mountains, saddlebags are a necessity. You just don't dare go anywhere without a full set of cold weather gear, water, tire plug kit, air pump, skinning knife, first aid kit and emergency stove/rations. It is too far to civilization and with traffic only being 1 vehicle every hour or so, spotty cell phone coverage it is just best to be well prepared =)

Which bags do you have? Been looking for saddlebags that are usable but not too large...
River Road Quantum Compact bags with over the fender part left off and even cut off the zippers. HEHE
