Hey Guys,
I am a new proud owner of my first bike, the Stryker. I did a lot of research before I picked a bike and nothing that I wanted compared to Stryker. My only complaint is the sound. I have read a few things on the forums about drilling the stock pipes. But I figure if I am going to do that I might as well just buy new pipes, V&H Slash Staggered. My only worry is installing it myself. I saw Low and Mean had a video for a different set of pipes which didn’t seem too bad, but I want to do it right. So I guess my question is how hard is it really?
My other question is related. Seeing as how this bike is fresh off the line and I have only put about 350 miles on it so far is there anything I have to worry about installing new pipes on a bike so new?

I am currently stationed up here in Washington diving in the northwest. If there is any other Stryker riders that want to meet up this summer, please hit me up!
I was ecstatic when I found this website!

Thanks in advance!

Welcome!

I installed the Cobra swepts by myself. The hardest part (for me) was accessing the header bolts on the front cylinder. Everything else was pretty straigh forward. Getting the new header pipe so seat into both cylinders was a bit tricky too since its a Y-pipe.

Welcome to the forum and use new gaskets everytime you have pipes loose from head!

This was the first set of pipes I ever changed out, and I did it myself, meaning if I can do it you can too. A few tools, a couple of gaskets, and take your time. I found parts of the process to be frustrating, ie installing the heat shields, but its not bad. I think there is also a certain pride that comes with doing the mods yourself.

There are a lot of good people on this forum and a ton of knowledge already posted, but if you have any questions folks are always glad to help. Oh and welcome too btw.

I installed the twin slash with help from my roommate. I am not very patient or handy and I wouldnt have been able to do it without a hand. I guess it all depends on your skill level but I found it very beneficial to have someone to help at least hold the pipes when bolting them on and to hand you your beer.

I think that answer will be different from who you ask. I know when some say that these exhaust sounds great ( INSERT ANY BRAND) , to me they may sound like crap.I think you have to personally listen to them yourself to get the right answer. The same goes for looks. A lot like the drag pipes, I like a exhaust with some curve in it. For me I'm with Immortal. V and H 2 into 2

Welcome to the site. I had Vance and Hines on my last bike and went with Cobra sweeps on this one. They both sound great. I dont think you will be disappointed either way.
