Well, the cold hit this morning on my way home from work. After lows in the 50s all last week, out of nowhere it's in the 20s. Luckily, I threw a couple layers in the bag on the way to work last night just on a hunch.

What I didn't have were my heated gloves. That got a little tingly. Now I'm really getting sad that new heated gear didn't make the budget this year. :'(

Anyway, this is the time of year where people start asking me things like "what's wrong with your car?" or "why the heck are you still riding that thing?" But unless there's snow on the ground, I ride. And it never snows here.

How 'bout you guys? You going to keep riding?

I can't imagine living there. Here on the coast I grumble about rain but the coldest I see in winter is 12 C unless I go inland then it can go down to 6-7 C which is still good riding weather. We have summer rains here so the winter riding is mostly dry. Thinking about having Oxford heated grips fitted to the Stryker, I have them on my Burgman and they are great.

Up here in the Northwest it's been in the mid 30's off and on for a couple of weeks, as long as I have layers I'm ok. Now once it's starts raining and being in the low 30's that will change things a little.

I plan on riding all winter as long as no snow or ice!

Crazy, we're having the same cold front. I didn't ride yesterday because of the precipitation. today was 32F when i left the house. wore sweats under my jeans, sweatshirt under jacket w/ liner and some thick-ass gloves. i was good except for a breeze that was coming through hitting my forehead. gave me a **** ice cream headache. lol... yeah so 20 degrees is where i'm going to draw the line i think

we've been having some mid 30's mornings here in atlanta, i'm still riding, figure i'll ride till I can't feel my fingers, bought some great sock from BPS that really keep your feet warm but wick away moisture, put my glove liners in and they're working great, slipped a hoodie under the jacket, still wearing the brain bucket, only difference is i wear a bandana covering my nose and mouth, you'd be shocked how warm your face stays with just that, earphones keep the cold out of my ears

I didn't ride yesterday because of a 50% chance of rain. We didn't get any. :'( We are in such a drought right now we need rain more than I need to ride. Approaching the worst drought in central texas history.

Anyway, rode this morning. It was 42 degrees with stiff 20 mph wind out of the north. I was very comfortable with my jeans, lined wind pants, and riding paints on the bottom. Wore under armor, polo, coat, and lined wind breaker up top. Gloves, and glove liners for the hands, and a face wrap under the full face helmet.

May seem a bit much but I didn't thing about the cold at all this morning except for the cool breeze still flowing in on my crotch.

I'll ride as long as its above 40 degrees. Here in central Texas that means I won't miss much riding time.

I will try this Alabama "Winter" out and see how "cold" it is on the bike! Hopefully it's not TOO bad because I want to keep riding!
Here in Georgia I have always rode for a good part of the year. But that was on my crotch rocket. I have noticed rather quickly that the cowlings on a crotch rocket make a big difference as far as keeping the wind off of you. I don't live in town so most of my commute is 55 and 60 mph. With your legs hanging out and your chest sticking up there like three brick walls it makes a big difference. I have thought of looking into some heated gear. I'm good until it gets below 40 degrees. I used to be able to ride in 30 degree weather on the 636.
