I kinda lagged on posting this but my old man came by last fathers day to help me with some rewiring on the fj, and I caught him staring at the stryker. So I told him before I give you this beer why don't you take that for a ride??? He didn't want to mess it up but I told him " thats what insurance is for!" besides I don't want you to get hurt so just go slow and don't drop it! My picture skills arn't the best, but the smile says it all hope you can see it.

Of course after he came back and parked the bike he told me,"ya know, thats the first time in over 40 years that I've been on a big bike!"

He's pretty frugal, and I don't think he'd get that one past the misses. I'll have to find another bike so we can go on a ride together! It's the least I can do, since me being born is probably what stopped him from riding. Unless it was running into the side of the harley shop on his ridged that did it?

Take him to the HD shop first and see how ridiculously expensive the bikes are there then to the yamaha dealership and say, "See, your gonna save 8k if you buy this bike." Or better yet take his wife and say this is the bike dad wants but I know where to find a much better deal. ;)

That's so awesome! My pops too, hadn't ridden in nearly 40 years as well.... so, a lil over a year ago, I bought a CBR600 that I got an awesome deal on (I was on a sport bike then as well), I gave it to him and he surprisingly loved it considering how he had never been on a sport bike at all. I know what you mean about seeing him with the ear to ear grin that's been 40 years in the making...... :)
Unfortunately my pops has a harder time behaving than most younger cats out there ..... so on one of our weekend rides through some winding roads here in North Texas, he went through a corner way too fast and left the road for some "off-road time" and through a barbed wire fence. Yea,... to say the least it screwed up the bike pretty good since he left the road at around 70mph,... but luckily he didn't get much more than a couple scrapes himself. We got the bike up and were able to ride it home barely.... I ended up fixing the bike up enough to be able to sell it, then I bought him a Honda Shadow ACE 750 that I got a deal on. This has kept him kicked back and slowed down plenty enough, plus he's no longer to ride in the front anymore .. (per momma bear of course). LOL That's when I made the change to my first cruiser.... a V-star 650, and now to my Stryker.
Maybe you can find something used and good shape that's affordable for him to get back into on. :D

Straightjacket,,,I'm seeing this 2 possible ways.

You are the best son that a dad could ask for.

OR

You're a lil' bastard for tormenting your poor dad with a temporary treat....LOL

If my daughters did that to me,,,,I would certainly be expecting a nice already
modded Stryker for Father's day 2012 :)
