Is it worth my money!? I slacked last year on it, and haven't done any maintenance to it. :(

I have almost 3k miles, and I can change my own oil, and adjust my own clutch. Do they do anything else that I should prob bring it in and have them do before I am out of warrenty. AKa is it worth my money to have them do the stuff that I can do??

Dealer told me they do the first service @ 600 miles...oil change, adjust belt, clutch, and retorque everything...after that all i had to do is keep all oil change records and receipts if i did my own oil change...Might be different at other dealerships....

I'm no expert on this..... but you really really should have done the 1st service yourself minimum. The machine particles have been tossing and turning in your engine's oil the entire time.

It's your own piece of mind for 1st service. I did it myself with a friend. Just keep the receipts.

First service is due between 600 and 1000 miles according to Dealer and Manual. Very Important to change the oil and filter at that service. Engine Rebuilder Recommendation #1. Your engine warranty might be Kaput!

You might be out of warranty due to the length of time not doing any maintenance.
As others have said, at the minimum, change the oil and filter - stat!

I have never heard of a warranty being voided by not bringing it in for services... I have never brought any vehicle in for services since I have been driving...since I do all my own maintenance... But I do admit it is my own fault for not keeping up on the upkeep of the bike. I guess Oil and filter will be a minumn this week. I might called the dealer this week and see what a first service runs $$, and maybe just bring it in for ****s and giggles...

Change the oil and filter right away. You should have changed it at between 600 and 1,000. I don't think there is any way that they can tell you didn't. So the warranty should be find unless you tell them. As for any damage to your engine it should be minimal. Any metallic particles that were allowed to pass the filter due to filter failure because the particles start tearing the filter up after a while will be dispersed in the oil and at the very worst cause premature wear on parts like rings, guides, bearings, syncs, Clutch plats, wrist pins, etc. etc. I personally don't think 3,000 miles would cause enough to be concerned about for a long time.
As for any other adjustments like re torque bolts there is nothing in the maintenance schedule that requires that but you should periodically check for lose bolts any way. I have found a few in 3,000+ miles. The clutch and belt tension is also something you should check yourself from time to time. That is something the dealer does for free within the first 30 days. I haven't needed any adjustments in almost 4,000 miles. In other words the dealers have not touched my bike and will not until the 16,000 mile maintenance.

well why not just keep riding it then and see what happens after engine failure. With no proof of ever changing oil or filter, you may get a Warranty 101 class the hard way. Doing your own oil & filter is fine and Proof of oil & filter could be just as easy as showing reciept for oil and filter with date bought. I am coming off as an Ass I know, but I am trying to help you out.

I totally agree with 11 Stryker,
And Ya, I wouldn't bring it into a shop to have them do the work. That's worse than just telling them you didn't do the first service until 3,000 miles. Just change the filter and oil your self and keep the receipts and log it as having only 1,000 miles on the bike at the time of the purchase of the oil and filter. Other wise your going to screw your self out of any chance for them to up hold the warranty if your engine develops premature problems due to not changing the oil when you should have.

With our Subaru they said if I do oil changes myself to keep receipt because he has seen it where a guy didn't keep them and when he had a warranty issue the company said sorry we can't help....
When I was working for Nissan we were close with the subaru dealer and Subaru corp (not the dealer) sponsored/held a auto cross meet up where we were and invited all the Subaru owners. After it was all over when the Subaru owners came in to get parts fixed, some had turbo issues, under warranty. There warranty was canceled by Subaru for "Participation in an organized racing event" which in the warranty documents voids their warranty.
