Went to the dealer to get my first service today. They tried to charge me $259. And while I was waiting I made some calls to other dealerships. I was quoted 129, needless to say I went back to the service guy and question him about the price. I ended up paying 160 with tax.

Bike does run a lot smoother!

I paid 90$ and the fool forgot to tighten the drain bolt.
They told me to maintain Warranty and such I needed to take it to them for first service and initial checks.
Now I friggen regret it.

How much does the Yamaha wrench go for to untwist the filter? Kinda got a sad rigged car one that feels dirty ;)

I just bought the oil and filter to do mine this week. Did any of you guys have to adjust the belt tension? Mine seems a little slack but I'm not sure as this is the first belt driven bike ive had

I tightened mine at hte 1st service. You'll need something like a dentist mirror to see the alignment marks on the swingarm. Unless you take the exhaust off.

I'm going to get one of those belt tension guages. Its supposed to be between 5-7mm with 10ft-lb pressure applied.

So, I had some noises on the bike when I got it like a ticking while driving and a whurling from the drive belt (pobably not adjusted right) so I call to make an appt and figure, heck, im at 700km, why not get them to do the first service since im there anyways, so I ask how much and they guy told me $298.00 plus taxes !! what?????
Then I ask is it synthetic oil, no he says, synthetic will void the warranty!,
So I asked, "what exactly will you guys be doing for this amount" and hes like, oil change, check this, check that and scan its fault memeory.
So I basically told him ray charles must have done the "checks" on the Pre delivery inspection because I rode away on a new bike that sounded like my old one and now you want $300 to do what you should have done in the first place? please.
Called another local dealer-$185, another a little further, $129.99.wtf??
So needless to say once they fix these 2 noises ill be servicing it myself.
This is how dealers screw themselves.

My dealer tried to tell me that I would not be able to do my own 1st service because of the adjustments and special tools I would need. Bunch of BS. I told them fine then they have to throw in the preventative maintenance (includes 1st service) for free or I walk. They gave it to me.
