Hey everyone. I've been street bike rider for more than 10 years. I had an 2003 R6 and an 2004 R1 which I kept in pristine condition. I've been thinking about switching over to a cruiser but can't decide which route to go. I love the look and specs of the Stryker but the reputation and muscle of a Harley is a battle for me. Any thoughts? Should I go with a Stryker or shop for a Harley. Hard decision.

Would never buy a Harley. They cost 3 times as much and for what, a name and they are money pits. As far as looks go, well the Harley guys usually check my bike out. Had one Harley guy checking out my bike when I came out of this pub. He asked lots of questions and one of the questions was how much did I pay for it. When I told him he replied " I think I'm going to be sick".

You're on the wrong forum if you think you're going to find any love for Harley here. ;-)

If you do some further digging, I think you'll find the "reputation and muscle" of a Harley isn't what you think.
+1 :thumb:

Got nothing personal against Harley's or those who ride them. Buy one if you just have to "have a Harley". But like black vapor says, with the modern cruisers (even with the older ones) Harley ain't got nuttin' in the muscle department....and reputation???? Look at the "Another sad HD story" thread. That'll give you an idea of the reputation.

the price is definitely true, way expensive. I've done some further digging and I do hear a lot about oil leaking and other mechanical issues that leave HD's on the side of the road. So far nothing compares to the dependability and style of Yamaha and it's Stryker. I guess I just need some people saying "get the Stryker". anyone have any thoughts on the 2014 vs 2013? I know it's the same bike, what you guys think about the matte grey?

Ex 636 and 09 r6 rider. I like my Stryker but wanted a raider but it was air cooled. I feel like I made a good choice. The power is Ok. I get compliments all the time. **** Harley even copied this bike lol.

Another former sport bike rider here. HD's are expensive to buy and check out how much $$$ parts will cost. Just think of all the Stryker mods you could buy with the money you save.
Besides, us Stryker owners already have the bike that turns heads.

Get the Stryker...
Spent 10 years riding sport bikes, still have one and still love it. BUT I ride the Stryker more. Your going to love it! The 2014 vs 2013 is a matter of colors.

I used to ride sports bikes too. And now I currently have a Stryker AND a harley. I can tell you from experience, the Stryker is MUCH more reliable. I swear my Harley is going to spend most of the year in my garage waiting for me to fix it :(

I have found that to be so true. I have gotten so many compliments on my bike, from straight -up gang-bangers in Springfield, to the local cops (even as loud s it is!) There was even a time when I was at the parts store talking to my kid....a guy jumps out of his car, starts taking pictures with his phone...calls up his buddy and starts saying how he has to "see this bike", "it's awesome", "this is really a nice looking bike"! Then he starts asking me about it and relaying the info to his buddy on the phone. Never had it happen to ANY other vehicle I've owned (car or bike). It's nice...but sometimes it "ooks" me out a little when they get carried away :)

I am on my 28th bike I have owned since 1973. I ride and owned sport bikes and cruisers. Sold my 09 R1 in 2010. Im selling my 2007Liner Roadliner S and keeping
my new Stryker. I can pretty much buy any bike I want. I have riden just about every
hardley they make including the v snod. You can keep them all. This motor head will
never pay more and get less. My licence plate says. NOPORK. Dont get suckered into
the hype.

Yamaha. All of the passion. None of the heartache.

Not sure what response you were expecting from a Stryker web site. You owned yami's so you know their reliability. I bought a bike that looked great, runs great and could care less about image or ego. I ride for me and not for a status symbol. Buy what makes you happy.
