I would assume the sound of the air getting sucked in.
My cobra intake makes a sucking sound when you open the throttle. But I kind of like the sound though.

I have a custom one from SS Custom Cycle and that is the only complaint I have is how noisy it is all the time. It's not bad going down the road but at idle it's plenty loud.

I was thinking about making a custom cover for my stock setup.

I don't mind the noise. The whistle. As long as you know what it is, and it isn't something wrong, then it's ok.

Cobra makes sucking sound too, sometimes depending on the weather it sucks more than other times (no comments from the peanut gallery :tongue The hyperchargers have the doors on them, that may be better for alleviating the sucking sound better than the Cobra, and I think they look pretty cool too.

hey Joe, How hard is it to take the bolt from inside the handle bar throttle side? I am thinking I may have to take the stock one out to put in the new apes. I'd rather just order a new one...what do you think?

It's a nut that is welded inside of the bar. Maybe just buy a new nut and have it tack welded in place.
