Coming home on the freeway Friday night everyone suddenly decided a dead stop was the thing to do. Had to hit the brakes hard and accidentally locked up the rear wheel (way to easy to do on these bikes). Got home and noticed the rear tire looked sawed by the rain groves.

I've got 4500 miles on this tire and that one skid almost finished it. These tires are way too soft. I've always thought darksiders had a screw loose but this little incident definitely lends some credence to their position.

BTW, if it does that to a tire, I'd hate to imagine what would happen if I had to go down on that stuff!

Darksiders? Are you referring to sportbike riders in full leathers or Harley riders? Either way, yeah, hate it when I see ppl riding with just a T-shirt on and shorts.

Naw, he's referring to those folks who put car tires on their rides.
They are soft for a reason though.
I would guess you would have skidded much farther on a harder compound tire, possibly into someone?

Went out to ride this AM and noticed I can now see the belts going down the middle of the tire. Less than 4800 miles for this one. As I stated before, these tires are _too_ friggin soft. The last Bridgestone tires I had did pretty much the same thing.

I ordered a metezler 240 from jakewilson.com today. Should be here Friday. I've heard stories (almost sound like tall tales) of people getting 15k miles on a metezler. At this point I would be happy if it lasts the next two oil changes.
