Ok, I need some help. Can someone tell me if there is a purpose for the 2 1/2" ears/tabs on the front of the lowers forks? I assume they are there to deflect materials, etc, but I wondered if they could be removed if they are in my way of installing some lowers.

Yep, they can be removed. More chance of dirt getting into seals.

They are mainly to deflect and road debris from hitting and damaging polished forks.

Yes you can and people on here have removed them. I personally wouldn't because I put a lot of miles on my Stryker so my fork seals need all the protection they can get.

I removed mine 14K miles ago and haven't had any problems yet.

Appreciate the help. I was trying to put some lowers on to alleviate some of the updraft that is coming under the fairing that is beating me to death. I placed some lowers on and they are rubbing the front of the fork deflector and I was spitballing on some ideas to solve that issue.
