Recently bought a new 2012 Stryker. I now have 3K miles on it and the front tire or brake caliper is making a loud/annoying rubbing noise at low speeds and left/right turns. Has anyone else had this problem?
Are there any marks on the tire? You could remove the fender and easily check the inside to see if there are any rub marks from the tire to rule that out. Check the calibers to make sure some stone is not caught in there. Does it get worse if you apply slight pressure to the front brake?
there are no rubbing marks on the inside of the fender...that has already been ruled out. It does not get worse with light or medium pressure to front brake, it stays the same.
Calipers are also free of debris. I will check free spin of wheel again...last time this was done the noise was very faint. I'm thinking it has to do with being under pressure or the piston?
Could be a lot of things but to rule out junk on the brakes etc. give it a nice spray from the garden hose and get into the crevices on the front tire area. Brake dust can cause a slight squeal if it builds up just right...
If all else fails and the noise is always there, take it into the dealer and explain when it happens. They ought to be able to fix it. Of course if it is intermittent then Murphy's Law will say it won't appear when at the dealer
