So my Fuel Level Warning Light came on today for the first time and I noticed it also brought up what the manual calls “Fuel Reserve Tripmeter” which started to count upwards; 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7 The manual says that this Reserve Tripmeter lets you know how far you have traveled since the Warning light came on. Q: does anybody know how far you can travel (say 70mph consistantly) after the Fule Reserve Tripmeter comes on? thnx, Terry

There has been a thread in this before, i think it was reported the reserve tank is 4/10 of a gallon so if you avg 40 mpg's you should be good for at least 15 miles but I still think a good policy would be to keep it under 10 but I've gone 10-15 many times

Think I've put on 20 some but mine is messed up if I fill up when it comes on I get about 2.5 to 2.7 gallons in it. The time I put on over 20 it took little over 3 gal so I don't trust it or gauge. I fill up often and watch the trip.

I've gone 25 once, which tells me that it's closer to half a gal. I regularly fill up at about 15 gals. Even then I only get 3.3 gals in the tank. That's the only problem I have with this bike is the small ass gas tank!

So is the little tank under the seat the "reserve tank"? According to the manual its 5L capacity. The float (a.k.a. fuel level meter) is in the main tank on the right side. So when that reads as "empty" the light comes on and you start draining the reserve. If it is 5L then I should be able to go 70km before running out. This is not accurate as I have run out of gas on this bike (first time ever on any vehicle) at around 25km.

Either my math is wrong or the entire system is flawed.

Well I made it to work on 20 miles on reserve so I decided to come in here and see how much people have push the miles on reserve before I went to the gas station. I made it to the gas station on 22.1 miles and filled her up with 3.77 gallons. So I probably could've gone maybe another mile or two but that's really pushing it....Anyways glad I found this thread.

Varies a little on each bike and of course depends on how you are riding at a given point. Personally I've taken it north of 20 miles on fuel countdown but the safe/smart/easy thing is to simply look for fuel around 130 miles which is right around where the 1/4 tank indication ought to come up in normal riding.
After 2 hours I can use a butt break and something to drink. I have no desire to push the bike to a gas station or leave her on the side of the road.

Some of the mileage people want is more akin to touring bikes IMO. Those bikes are designed for long highway stretches and the Stryker is not that. Latest "Let it Ride" episode had a killer "digger" model that Arlen himself said "no more than a couple of hundred miles riding on it..." and they sold it for 25K!!! Was very sharp but the guy that got it just looked like the wrong rider for it to me...
