I finally cut the rest of the lower back portion of the airbox completely out tonight.

Well it is my answer to the stock mod instead of the expensive aftermarket air box cleaner mods. Does same thing as the fancy ones, just saves me some money. Air cleaner roars when accelerating. Works better with the cat mod and exhaust drilled and with the Cobra Autotune FI200 CVT. I also am now running with the 3 holes open on each pipe. But think I will take the 4th 1/2" plug out soon.

I did half of mine but I have no idea how it sounds. Lol.
well friend, when you are in 3rd and 4th gear and get on it hard from a low to mid rpm range- the air box will roar (seriously) until rpm gets near mid to upper range. Even more so if you are going uphill where bike is working alittle and needs more air. you will here this over your exhaust pipes! The other great thing about this mod over the aftermarket air cleaners out there is that- the bugs wont collect in the screens. I have taken cover off numerous times to check for any problems and the K&N filter is just as clean as the day I put it in there- about 1400 miles ago.

Did u notice anything with the k&n. As opposed to stock
Well I never checked that LOL. When I took cover off to change to the K&N air filter is when I got the idea to open the Airbox up a little. So I did the 1/2 mod then. Did not want to go to far at that point because I had done the Cat Mod also and needed to wait for a Fuel Processor.

Did you notice a reduction in decelleration exhaust popping with the air box mod?
Assuming you rode it before the fuel programmer...thx

I never have had any popping except when I had all 4 drilled holes open in each exhaust pipe. That was with the fuel programmer, but before the full airbox mod. Now I'm thinking I need to take the last plug from each pipe leaving all 4 holes open. I don't think I was drawing enough air before which was causing the popping. Will try tomorrow and let you know what happens.

I'm going to cut open my air box this weekend. So when you say it roars is it nice sounding (badass) or kind of annoying do your strongly recommend it?

with just drilled exhaust you don't have to have the programmer but with the airbox mod and drilled exhaust you do need a programmer.

I have to find a way to modify my check book to cover all the mods I want for the bike...exhausts, programmer, 240 tire, new pegs, mirrors, windshield, etc., etc., etc.!
