A hahahahha this is so funny:) Why do our ol'ladies are the ones pretty much saying if we can buy a bike or not, if we are riding too fast, where to stop, and where not to, need approval from them before buying any performance parts for your horse, bla bla bla. It's just so funny, you can go and buy any car you want without even taking her in consideration, and she'll be fine, but when it comes to bikes it's like, they need to be informed of anything you do to your horse, etc etc etc... Just makes me laugh!! My friends are like, "dude you got a bad ass bike" and I'm like well get one man, you have no idea what your missing, and here comes the typical response: "yeah I'd love to get one, but my girl won't let me, she says its dangerous bla bla bla!! Just funny!!

I am fortunate to have a "Non-typical" wife.
I was being more responsible with the bank account and SHE's the one who insisted I get my Stryker..
I'm a lucky man.
In fact, her argument to get it was...
"You've been working hard at the same place for over 27 years, you deserve something that you really want that's just for you"

Been married to her 20 years and we still act like kids!

I wanted a bike when I was married. She had no issues with me getting a bike as long as I had no issues with getting an in-ground heated, salt water pool surrounded by stamped concrete and fancy iron fencing. So my $12K bike was going to cost an additional $50K ... and she goes up to her mother's cottage for 7 of the 10 weeks of summer vacation ... pretty expensive pool for a few weeks of use per year.

So now I'm not married anymore (for more than just the bike / pool think haha) and now I can go riding when I like. :)

Woman are generally more practical than men so they need to rein us in on certain "hobbies"

My wife also said go ahead and get the bike and generally allows me to add goodies at will but I'm plenty frugal there so no great worries.
The bike came with 2 simple rules: 1) A helmet is required 2) No drinking and riding(although 1 at lunch is OK)
If I violate those rules I'm sure her demeanor will change...

Our wives love us and although most could care less how much extra performance a given part "may" provide they quickly grasp the concept that we'll be out there trying to butt dyno our latest purchase etc. They don't want to see you in the hospital or worse and they realize that without you life and all it's responsibilities would be more difficult. I know, deep and grim, but that is the reality in my house.
As for cars and them not being as worried, how many times at a party etc. if you say you got a new car(say a Corvette) have people come out of the woodwork and chimed in about knowing X person who died once they got one of those... You can do everything in your power to mitigate the dangers but they still exist and your loving wife knows that.

Now if my wife suddenly got really interested in things and ordered me a NOx kit, bought me racing fuel by the 55 gallon drum and reserved track time I'd be looking closely at her personal emails for the underlying reason :D

I am the wife, but why should I care since I ride too. Hubby and I got into riding together and drive each other crazy with our bikes. Yes, we do consult each other before buying parts, paint jobs, etc. But that is just so we don't over spend. Usually what one gets the other gets too, like our paint jobs. He was going to wait until this winter but couldn't stand riding around with my custom paint job, so got his done too. :)

Ok I'll retract just a bit, "not all the Ol'ladies" but a lot of them(well the ones of my co-workers at least) which is like 40 :) when I bought my Saleen Mustang, my wife was like " that's a nice looking car yeah"!!! When I bought my Harley F150, she's like ok, when I bought my Saleen Focus, she's like "uh cute" but when I just mentioned that I wanted a bike, that's when she raised ****!! I know my wife loves me soooo much(at least that's what I think) I've been trying to buy my V&H exhaust and she just won't approve it, nor my power commander, or my intake >=| it's pretty funny since I'm the main source of income for my house, but I guess that don't matter to her. DING IT!!!!!!!!
