slowly getting rid of useless plastic since i bought the stryker. surprised how much just plain bling chrome plastic that can go, so far . does the tank piece come off pretty easy?? figured heating with blow dryer and slowly pull off should work, but want others methods to remove. hate look of it...

Has any body ever heard of the paint getting ruined from removing the tank trim?? I've heard a few stories from people trying to remove the trim and they end up screwing the paint up. No sure if they just screwed up, but they have to get the tank repainted.

Don't even have to use the blow dryer. Pry the chrome up from the bottom it one corner till you can get your finger under it. Then slide your finger up while you pull the chrome piece up. What your doing is separating the chrome piece from the tape. Then you just have to use glue gone to remove the tape from your tank. Took me 30 seconds to remove the chrome piece this way. It was the removing of the tape from the tank that took time. But you don't mark your tank up at all this way. 8)

That's because it's stupidly overpriced. You can get trim rings that will fit perfectly for under $10. And you can get them already chromed rather than an unpainted piece of fiberglass.
