I just got a call fro GE. I forgot to pay my bill yesterday with everything going on.

I told the rep to go ahead and take it out and sorry I forgot, and BAM!, they hit me with a $39 late fee and a $15 pay by phone fee.

I financed with them because it was the easiest, since I was at the dealer anyways.

I definitely will not be late again... I gotta fill out that automatic payment paperwork.

geez those fee's seem a little excessive for the first occurrence. I can understand levying those feels on repeat offenders. Auto Draft is the only way to go!
In my experience with financial institutions…on the rare occasion that I’ve incurred a “late fee” or some similar “service charge” all I had to do was point out my good track record with them and request the fee’s be removed…this has worked every time. Along those same lines…whenever I re-up my cell phone service for a new 2 year contract with my provider they automatically charge a $35 “Activation Fee”… and they’ve happily waived it every single time simply because I asked them too. So many people just assume fees are set in stone…often times they are not.
