Gear Indicator

Is there a Gear Indicator that would work with our Stryker?
The GI Pro is for Suzuki or Kawasaki. Plus I don't even know if this bike has the lower gears on a timing retard like those do. But a Gear Indicator would be nice (not for $500 though).

I rode a friends bike that had it and it was nice.
I also have to say like someone else did that it almost seems like a 1 1/2 gear is needed for slow speed sharp turns. !st gear doesn't make it all the way through the turn without shifting to second, and second gear is too high to start that sharp of a turn for me.
Friction zone is short too but I can live with it.

I hear you about the 1 1/2 gear. I have the same issue. It's almost like you have to be in 2nd and half hold the clutch.

BTW: Im looking at installing a GiPro to my bike on the weekend. I've just not had time to install it yet.

Will let you know how it goes.

I installed the 30 tooth pulley from a vStar 1300 just so I didn't have to deal with this. It works perfectly and doesn't seem much worse off on the highway as the gears are shorter. 90% of my riding is back roads so this was a no brainer modification for me.
Gipro Gear Indicator Installed

Installed it on my bike on the weekend.

Took me about a whole 45 minutes to do and works well.

I have seen some other knock-off looking versions on Ebay, they are 4-5 wires that you splice in at various points. Was that the same basic procedure for your unit?

I purchased the Gipro along with the harness. I had used one before and liked the simple install.

The harness has 2 plugs (male & female) for the Speed Sensor, that you unplug and put the harness in between.
It then has a wire that connects (splices) to the coil wire on your bike.
And finally a switched 12V+ wire.

The Display unit connects to the harness.

Coil Sensor cable. Located behind the LHS Black Cover under the seat. (Where the seat key release is. (You'll need the Security Screwdriver, from any hardware store).

And finally the display. I used double sided tape to fix it to the side of the instrument cluster.

Great write-up! Thanks!

Were these the part numbers you used?

Yamaha GIPR-X (GIPRO) & GPX-Y01 (Harness)

Did you see the hazard switch?
Did you see the hazard switch?
Whoa, what's that all about??

I noticed it, I was wondering when someone was going to mention it. What's that all about?

It's the Australian version, the hazards are mandatory there, It's probably the same part # 2SS-83969-00 anywhere else hazards are required as well. I looked for a used housing on Ebay and nothing, new they run about $270 (from the 15 min of research I did). I'm actually walking out the door to the parts shop right now to build a hazard light flasher circuit using an automotive flasher and a switch tied into the turning light circuit. I ride in PGR funerals and not having flashers is a safety hazard at certain points. I shouldbe able to knock it out in about an hour and $15.00.
Yes, that's the hazard switch. They are on all cars and bikes in Australia. They turn on front and rear turn indicators.
