I am interested in either the 17" or 22" factory windshield for the stryker. I have searched and read all the threads I could find pertaining to them, but came away just as confused as before. For those who
have used either, I am curious what your experiences with them are and if the height you purchased was correct for how tall you are.

I'm looking to reduce wind fatigue and avoid getting hit by bugs, gravel, etc on long trips. I expect to use it very rarely, but considering their price, I want one that works appropriately when needed.
I also have a few questions.

At 6'1" is the 17" enough to keep the wind from trying to rip my half helmet off on the freeway? My bike is lowered too if that makes a difference.

In the pictures there appears to be a decent gap between the windshield and the headlight. Does that cause any problems with wind being forced through, and can the windshield be lowered any to close that gap?

What site has the best price on these? I've been looking, but sites are sneaky and list the shield without the rest of the hardware.

I have the 22" windshield and I love it. I am only 5'-8" so my eyes sit below the top of the windshield. At my height the 22" fits great, I would guess that at 6'-1" a 17" windshield would blow air and debris right at your eyes?

OK.. I can answer this...I'm 6'3" and I have the 17" windshield and I can honestly tell you it is the worst **** thing I have ever bought for the Stryker.....First of all, the wind hits me right in the nose and provides NO PROTECTION from the nose up. Forget wearing a half helmet....The wind will rip it right off your head or cause the chin strap to choke the **** out of you.....Full face helmet you say?...WRONG!!!! With a full face helmet, the wind fluxuation from the point where the wind comes over the top of the windshield and hits my full face helmet causes it to shake so violently it will affect your vision....Bottom line...If your above 5'8" DO NOT BUY the 17" windshield....****, I doubt the 22" would be any better.
Regardless of what windshield you decide to go with, make **** sure they will allow you to return it if you dont like it....I spent over $500 for the shield and quick disconnect and now I'm stuck with it....Not to mention the fact that I also dont wear a helmet anymore when I ride....Stupid I know.....so let that be a lesson to everyone who reads this. Research the **** out of anything you want before you buy it.

I have the 22 inch and a boulevard I use the 22 inch for long trips or during heavy bug season ( live near a lake). I'm 6'2 and it protects me from the bugs and other debris the wind is deflected over my head maybe a inch or so I don't feel direct wind blast. You still get wind from the tank that gets kicked up but its maybe 15 mph wind or so just guessing at highway speeds 65 plus. the windshield If your around 5'11 the top of the windshield would probably be eye level I can see over it about a inch or so. Around town riding and short trips I use the boulevard it keeps the wind off my chest but deflects it to my face thats why I wear a full face until summer time when it would be better for keeping me cool.

I'm afraid this is how my experience would turn out, which is why I have held off so long buying one.

A while back I was headed to work and met a man riding his bike while wearing a baseball cap behind his windshield. Thats what I'm looking for, not the hat wearing, but the relief from wind constantly shoving my head every which way at 65+. I went to a bike rally last year, and after a few hours at freeway speeds I had a headache due to the wind constantly knocking my head around on my shoulders. The rest of my body It didn't bother.

How is both of your riding posture? Mine is awful and I hunch over like Quasimodo lol. I wonder if that makes any difference.

I hunch too. My lower back is shot and I find that hunching suits me best. It takes the shock off of my lower back. I wish I could lean back and ride like those guys who look like they are at home in their lazy boy recliners...

Leaning back works great for me as long as I have my wife's hooties to lean on or a pack of some kind. Up to 75 mph I have no problems with wind. I don't have a shield and like the wind to hit steady rather than buffet and and bounce my head around. I am 5'5" and if I go any faster than 80 mph I hunch forward and the wind seems to come off the top of my fork and bars and roll over my head. The aerodynamics of your helmet plays a important roll in the wind presser on you head area. Also the position you hold you elbows. I say experiment with body poster before wasting money on a shield for this bike until the get it figured out. It is a new design.Just my .02.

Toby I'm with ya brutha!!!
****, the shirt you wear might affect how the wind grabs ya. I would take the shiels off and just ride without it if it would'nt piss me off to see $500 worth of stuff sitting on the shelf in the garage....Maybe I'll sell it....Who knows.
You have a good point about the posture thing too....In the interest of science I will need to borrow your wifes "Hooties" so I can make an informed decision :p

Thanks for the info and suggestions. As soon as it warms up I'll try a ride at those speeds to see if its any different after lowering the rear of my bike and sitting on the lowered seat pan.

I have the 22 its nice it works well and when I talk to my wife I can hear her for better or worse get the quick disconnect. You will be happy they don't look great on the though that's my only complaint it takes away from the raked look.

Thx for the info. I have a 22" quick release ordered and scheduled for delivery tomorrow. I guess I'll know soon enough whether I hate it or not lol.

My 22" windshield arrived today and I was able to get it installed and take a test ride. I didn't even make it 1 mile before I realized what a piece of **** this thing is. The wind now swirls around and blows straight up my nose, and I can both feel and see it shaking my nostrils like a damned flag. I tried different riding positions and head placement, but nothing helped. Still blocks bugs and road debris I guess if I could stand to use it.

I should have listened to Jeremyf073 :'(
