So a long story short is... I am ditching my sexy exhaust because of the constant leg issues (28" inseam).... and I already ordered my new swepts and they should be here tomorrow

My plan is to ride down to the border, swap out the exhausts, repackage the V&H and ship them out...

The question is, will I require anything special to do this swap? Tool wise? I will bring new gaskets, but if anyone knows of any issues or specific tools I will need, this would be greatly appreciated.... As I will be doing it on the fly and not at home in my garage!

Also, if anyone with the swepts has some input on either removing the baffles or installing after market ones, let me know as we'll :)

Thx all

Cobra Swept baffles

I have the cobra swepts on my Stryker and have put 200 miles on them thus far. I pulled and mondified them at 50 miles, by cutting off the baffle and cone just in front of the forward collar and then drilling out the secondary wall a 1/2inch.

The beauty of this is if you decide later that its too loud, you can tap the hole with a compression tap and insert either a plumbing plug to completely close it off, or thread in a downsize adapter to reduce the passthru.

I started with a 1/4inch hole, and stepped up as it got a lower tone. Once I got to the 1/2inch, it started to get louder at the same time.

Hey Kakarot just wanted to let you know your not the only one to have issues with the big radius design. The original owner of my bike had pipe custom made from a shop in here in Los Angeles that was going to make them for the Stryker. After two test rides we negotiated the price based on putting the stock pipes back on because I could not stand the heat (same basic design as the Big Radius) and could not comfortably operate the brake with my leg kicked out so far out and I have a 30" inseam. He was like 6' 3" with some long legs. It bummed me out to come home without those awesome pipes but it what it is. I am sure you will be happy with the swepts.

I originally wanted the V&H Big Radius, but was afraid of the heat on my leg. I bought the Cobra Swepts and have been very happy with them. I'm sure you will love them.

I am hoping and assuming the swepts box will do...

If it was not such a far drive to the border... I would do it right, just go get the pipes, install at home and then bring them back across to ship (shipping from Canada is super expensive).

So I am riding down... and trying to do it on the fly...

so I will bring my ratchet set, multi bit screw driver... allen keys... but if anyone knows of some specific tools or issues, this is the info I need!

thx

I would think you will be fine as well. If I only had 2 more inches. Still talking height here people. I could've dealt with it but did not want to. I am probably close to 5' 9" than 5' 10" anymore so at 6' you should have no problems.

Hey Foreverblue, I have a 32" inseam and to be honest it all depends on how you ride on your bike. if you grip the tank with your knees then you will feel the radius pipe. Have had my Big Radius for several weeks now and I like them a lot and have not had any issues. I did just turn my front heat shields in today to have them ceramic coated not for the heat issue but for the looks.

I do grip the tank with my knees (learned it from MSF). the Picture below is what I want to do to the pipes. As you can see there is no front heat shields and just heat wrap and since I want ceramic coated at the rear heat shield, leaves about 2" Chrome at the tip. I wonder if the ceramic coated plus the heat wrap will be ok for my leg without the front heat shields..

This definitely makes me wonder. I've been definitely sold on the beautiful lines of the Vance and Hines. I'm a towering 5'8" with a 32ish" inseam. I wouldn't say I hug the tank with my legs.... How much more do these really stick out compared to the stock pipes?

Does anyone have a set of the Big Radius 2 into 2 installed, that they could take a picture from the back of the bike looking forward, so we could actually see how much further it comes out?

My guess its about 120mm from the frame to the brake pedal because we need to reinstall the rear brake pedal assembly with the spacers and they provided 10mm x 120 mm hex cap screws
Hmmm, that's interesting. I have the Cobra engine guards installed, which if I remember correctly, included new rear brake pedal bolts, because the bolt goes through the pedal assembly into the engine guards (or vice versa.) I wonder if I'll need even longer bolts on that side if I do the V&H setup.
