Greetings to all from down in Houston. The name is Bill, and I came here for research. I'm heavily leaning toward the Stryker as my next bike and came to read articles and pick people's brains.

I sold my 01 Honda Shadow Sabre (1100) a few years ago. I did a 50 mile commute rain or shine for 5 years and finally said the **** with that. Finances dictated that I sell my old reliable at the time, but now I am back strictly for the pleasure of riding.

Thank you in advance for all the info posted on here and for my stereotypically newbies questions to come.

Bill

Thanks for the welcome. I haven't been to the rally in years and the last time (edit: Only time) I went was by myself. It would be nice to get back again.

Edit to add: If anyone has a line of cheaper/better insurance I'd appreciate it. Progressive is looking best right now at $367.00. Standalone policy.

Insurance is extremely variable - depending upon exactly what you take and don't take, deductibles etc.. etc.. it gets all very confusing to me as to exactly what I need vs.. "recommeneded" (then again they want you to take the max out...)

I just want something decent... whatever that means - lol

so, what level of a plan are you wanting to take out?

I'm doing the following:

Liability 30/60/25 (State minimum)
Comp and collision: $1000 deductible
Uninsured 30/60
Roadside

With Progressive that gets me $367 a year paid in full.

That is with perfect credit, driving record, and motorcycle safety course (even though it is old)

If anyone has a line on something better I would be glad to hear it.
