I was talking with some biker friends, planning on going to the blessing of the bikes event in Murrysville, PA this comming sunday, and was told that I needed to get a guardian bell. I've never been a superstitious person, and from what I read online it kinda looks more common among HD riders. What do you guys think/believe?

Someone has to give you the bell for it to work its magic. You can't just buy it yourself. I don't believe in supernatural powers but knowing you have the bell may effect your subconscience . There is something to be said about the power of suggestion.

I've got one on my bike. It was given to me by another biker on a forum like this one. He told me he only ever heard it ring once, and he got off and looked over his bike and found something fixin' to fall off the bike.

It was hand made and given to him by another biker that I don't know. He gave it to me because someone else had given him another one.

Do I believe the superstition? No. But it's a pretty cool story. And definitely not a Harley thing.

And you don't just "get" a guardian bell. It doesn't work unless it's a gift.

The way I understand it, the guardian bell is supposed to shed off evil spirits that latch on to your bike.

It's usually associated with mechanical problems (gremlins) which explains why it is use by a lot of Harley owners ;D

I have one on my bike that Steve gave me for Christmas. I can hear it as I ride along.
I ordered one for him yesterday.
Not really superstitious but pretty cool and not taking any chances

Just picked 3 of these up last week one for my cousin says "DILLIGAF" (does it look like I give a f***), my fathers "United States Air Force", and my brother-in-laws says "Try and burn this one a**hole" picture of the American Flag...got them all off ebay for $9 each great quality to.

I have found that as folks scrutinize my bike they seem delighted to spot the bell, and ask even more questions. A lot of bikers seem to have never heard about this little tradition.
I like the brass bell idea on the swingarm to honor a fellow fallen friend as well, seems a fitting commemoration for a biker.

Today I went for a ride in the cold weather, and the most amazing thing happened to me. I was on a country road and I heard the bell rang, so I slowed down and the next thing I found on the next curve there was a family of deer in the middle of the road, It was about 5 deer just standing in the road. If I hadn't slowed down I may have hit hem of crashed. Anyway I revved up my bike with my new cobra slip on and out of the way they all went, there was a bunch more on the side of the road. I've never seen so may deer together. As I said before I'm not a superstitious man but I believe now that the guardian bell has it's purpose.
