Guys I'm really sorry if you have to read this question again, but I just had to put it out there. I'm very desperate and very maaaaad!! I have a flat or maybe a small leak on my rear stock tire. And what gets me very mad is that the tire can pretty much b considered new. The thread is like new, I called my local shops, but they say that in this case I have to replace the whole tire???? Are you kidding? Just for a stup*^%# little hole I have to spend 200-300 bucks? OMG life is just very unfair sometimes.. Any suggestions? I honestly would hate to have to buy a new tire!!! Thank you guys. Please excuse my fury:(

Plug it and put green slime in it and ride it until it needs to be replaced. I got a hole in my 240 Metzler at probobly less than 1,500 miles put slime in it and a string plug in it over 3,000 miles ago. Been setting in the trailer since it started snowing and I got my neck operation about 7 weeks ago and it still is full of air.

First you have to find the leak and what's causing it - object in tire or is it a bad valve stem? If it's not a bad valve stem or a large hole - get some ride on
www.ride-on.com it will seal the leak and balance the tire as well.
*If there is somethin in your tire and it is close to the sidewall then you will need to get a new tire.

As Roadkill stated, put in the ride on, and check what the issue is. If the problem is close to or in the sidewall, just bite the bullet and replace the tire. That is a huge safety issue, and your health and possible life is not worth the risk if that sidewall plug blows out at the wrong time. Don't think that old thought "it won't happen to me"..... it is just not worth it. I am hoping it will end up a faulty valve stem, and nothing else. That would be an easy fix!! Good luck!!! :)

I'm so sorry guys please excuse my ignorance about this topic. It never crossed my mind to even consider a bad valve stem. You guys are awesome!!! I'll be checking the valve stem tomorrow morning. I'll post back once the investigation comes to a conclusion. ;)

It might not be the valve stem it's self could be the valve core...just wipe some spit on it and see if it bubbles....sorry but that's the old school way.

1st.. the issue about the dealer saying the "tire has to be replaced"... I think you might want to find another place to have work done... Unless the sidewall has been breached... the tire is completely fixable. As stated in previous replies... Slime it... The stuff works miracles it several ways... 1: small puncture or leak will be plugged...2: any future small punctures and leaks will be plugged...3: it will help smooth the ride out...it kinda balances the tire through bumps... absorbs them if you will.... and as also stated... a little dish soap in warm water applied with a paint brush will absolutely find the source of the leak.....

Slime also stays in a liquid form while inside your tire that's why it will seal any new leaks up to 2 years I believe.

Biggest problem with Slime- is the poor mechanic that has to clean it off his tire machine and your wheel whenever tire gets changed. Dealer may charge extra for that when the time comes!

What's up fellows? I just went to the shop today and bought the "ride on" sealant? I was gonna go for the slime but the guys was like you have to try this thing, it's a bit more expensive but trust me it freakin works wonders!! And a guys that was shopping right next to us second that. He was like "yeah I've used thing once and she did the job as promised" so I'm like WTH. How come none of my buddies commented me on this product? Hmmmmm so I went and bought it, unfortunately I didn't have a chance to work on her today, but for sure one of these days I will. Hopefully everything works wonders..

Roadkill did suggest the Ride-on product to you earlier in this thread.

I got a nail early on and after careful research plugged it. I knew the downside and took the calculated risk. I watch the tire closely. I'm also expecting to not get the normal amount of miles on it since as the tread wears and the plug gets more exposed and wiggles it'll probably start to leak.

Wish dealerships etc. would have patched it but I respect their decision.

Come spring I'll see if the rear has lost a lot more pressure than the front after sitting over winter. I'll also read up more on the ride on stuff over the winter and maybe add that in.
Always good and diverse knowledge on this forum.

Happy holidays to all.
