Thanks for the warm welcome everybody. You can basically ride all year round in South Africa. Where I live, in Gauteng, the coldest it gets here in winter is about -3C in the mornings. In summer the max temp can go up to 35+C. Normal summer thunderstorms in the afternoon - I got soaked yesterday on the way home, but loved it!

Holy Cow, South Africa. Watch out for Wlidabeast crossing the road. I read this in Cycle World. Ten animals you don't want to encounter on your motorcycle in Africa. I suppose that was N. Africa, but i'm not sure. Anyway, good luck with the Stryker.
