Ok quick question ladies and gents,

Besides a shop what is the easiest way to get the ends off the handlebars in order to change out the grips a buddy and I tried tonight and didnt get to far. They are not wanting to twist off to save my life.

Any help would be great,

Thank you,
Shaw

You need to use an allen bolt or something that will loosen the end of the grips i think its an 12 or 14mm? but i could be wrong but its a big size though.... once you loosen the ends the whole **** chrome end piece of the grips will unscrew... its one whole big piece... the rubbers of the grips would need to be peeled of or use a razor and cut it carefully on the throttle side making sure that you dont cut into the throttle tube

On the very end of each side there's a small chrome cap, right in the center. Pop it off and it will reveal the allen bolt WLFPCK was talking about. Just remove that and you're on your way.

You don't need to cut of the left handle. After the cap and the weight are unscrewed, insert a long screw driver between the rubber of the handle and the tube ... shoot some wd40 ....and use the screw driver to unstick everything. I did in it less than 2 minutes. Really easy to do.

Like they said, remove the chrome caps with a little tiny screwdriver, clutch side is glued on and has to be separated with wd-40,air, or mechanically. The throttle side if you need the throttle tube, there is a picture in the link, and to get it off the cables you have to take the throttle assembly apart.

Good luck, it's not too hard.

Some good info, maybe we should start a link on what handgrips (pics) you changed to, and how you like them. I've looked at several myself but feel its kinda like buying jeans (need to try on first). 8)
