RAM mounts make specific handlebar mounts for GPS units. I love mine... it is very sturdy and doesn't vibrate at all when I'm riding down the road. The only issues I have is with my power supply. When I don't have the GPS in, the power cord is just hanging around... and therefore ended up getting corrosion inside and stopped charging my GPS. Time to find an alternative power option...

No. It was a cheap ebay power cord... I had a feeling it wouldn't last long. But this GPS is getting pretty old (going on about 7 or 8 years now) so I may look for something a little more geared for bikes.

Acetone, and dielectic grease would help prevent the corrosion.

I have a small Nuvi 550 with a RAM mount. I can confirm what Klarowe noted...the RAM doesn't move around at all. The Nuvi I have is meant for motorcycles (and for taking on trails), it is only a 3.5" screen but is plenty big enough for the bike. However it is not Bluetooth. The Bluetooth version was like $300 more and I didn't think it was worthwhile. You can actually program specific routes (i.e. back roads) into it on your computer and then transfer to the unit. It is weatherproof. I connected a Battery Tender cigarette lighter socket to the Battery Tender connection I already had on the battery and ran the wire up through the engine to the front of the bike. So on long rides I can just plug in the Nuvi with no issues. And when not needed and I need the Battery Tender for the battery you just unplug the one connection and plug in the other. It is a great multi-use setup.

I got a bar mount with water resistant case, I installed it but still have yet to wire it up and put the GPS on. I did a lot of research to find a GPS that had A2DP Streaming that wasn't $600+. I finally found one made by Garmin, I bought it used because new ones are around $350. It's model 765T Garmin Nuvi. It allows you to stream directions via radio station which you program into the unit. This lets me use it with my Scala G9, all I have to do it say "Radio On" and select the station which the unit is tuned to which I have preprogrammed in my G9.

nathan520..I mounted mine under the cover on the frame on the left side directly below (and to the front) of the gas tank. That way it is out of site when it is not needed, and when I do want it, I can just reach in with my finger and pull it out. Works well so far.
